I’m pretty zen over results and performances as long as we try. Results and Performances are temporary. I’ve never heard anyone describe their relationship to the club the way you do but if it works for you it works for you.
Don't think anyone is worrying.. just voicing opinion, Remember the club's sales patter... Our this, Our that, Our other You can't sell folk one thing, then take it away and not expect reaction.. Only if your a robot, or work at the club Whitey..
The scoreboard is rubbish. But amend the last line to "hand driers" and you could be on to something.
This is true but it's also part of the problem in football. Nobody would apply this same principle to any other area of life where they are paying for something. It just would not happen because the service provider would not be around for long. I don't know why as fans we accept it from our football club but we do. The problem comes when people start to become apathetic which seems to be happening amongst our fanbase. I've lost interest in football in general, that has been the case for a few years especially top flight football, but it never applied to Barnsley or the league we are in. This is changing and I know I'm not alone.
Too right. Experiences like last night and this morning just keep chipping away at the will to keep pouring money in, to keep turning up. What other business operates in this way? I know that none of us know exactly what has gone on behind the scenes, but on the face of it this madness has to stop, or there'll soon be no fans left.
I get what you mean but I think that apathy isn't just the the problem, it's how folk react to certain situations. We all know that supporting clubs such as ours is going to be a roller coaster of a ride, I've payed so I'm staying until the ride has finished, it's the Yorkshireman in me.
Hee hee, I can just about remember her, from the High School I think. Mark was rather fond, I seem to remember...…..
Ian Like you and thousands of others I think DS was the freshest breath of fresh air we've seen in football management in the UK for decades. his positivity and obvious love for our great little club and town was and is remarkable. he is the epitome of a fans favourite. However as you've said we don't know what's gone on... ......he might have resigned for personal reasons. he might be going back to Germany for family reasons. the board might have found out he was actively looking for work elsewhere and that he was looking to move on. he might have recognised that he just wasn't good enough to manage at this level....ref the bizarre formation changes in recent weeks. he might have thought he'd lost the dressing room. he might have totally underestimated the massive difference between champ and league 1 and felt he couldn't take us fwd. the point is we just don't know so all the knocking of the owners is premature. It was impossible to dislike Daniel in any conceivable way but just because we loved him to death doesn't mean that he was right for the job as it is now in this league with these players. I agree with the comments 're experience etc but Daniel knew what he was signing up for. Good luck to one of our best ever Managers with definitely THE best personality of all of them. UTR.
I do agree with this to a point. I didn't always. Personally the tipping point for me was more recently though, when Heckingbottom went. As fans we invest far more than owners, players, managers. Football clubs don’t make decisions through the eyes of fans. Neither do players or managers. If we were top six and a bigger club came in for him, he’d be off. And if the next man wins 5 games on the bounce, this will all be forgotten.
That's fair Steve, and as you say, who knows what really happened? It's just too raw for me at the moment. Like all of us, I'll calm down eventually. What a top bloke he is.
