52 for 5. Same as we were yesterday give or take a run. Let's hope their lower order don't fire as well PS Old war horse Sidebottom is 3 for 18. What a player! We've missed him a lot this season
Siddy's on fire, your batsmen are terrified! As you say, let's hope Notts' lower order doesn't do as well as ours, because we've got a chance of enforcing the follow on at this rate
Yet again I'm sitting here envious of all those holidaymakers at Scarborough with the opportunity to watch the cricket. One of these days I'm going to take a week in Scarborough during the festival. There was a feature on it yesterday on Look North and I think they said that the Scarborough festival gets bigger crowds for championship games than anywhere else in the country. Quite an achievement that but, of course, they have to get lucky with the weather.
Nuff said! I've got both the YCCC site open which shows a real time scoreboard and also the BBC live coverage which has ball by ball commentary. Oh, and I'm trying to get some work done as well, but failing miserably as I'd rather listen to Notts wickets crashing. Trouble with that is that the festival organisers will now be getting twitchy. The last thing they want is a two-day championship game but if Yorks carry on like this they can roll them over twice today.
Oh, there's a surprise. Notts all out for 94 and Yorkshire are batting again. Maybe the CEO of the cricket club has had a word and said we MUST be playing tomorrow so ease up a bit Actually I'm glad because this gives Adam Lyth chance to get a good score on his home ground. Yorks start the second innings on 188 for 0. Not bad.
Rain isn't forecast to start until about 3pm tomorrow so I reckon we should have a bash for about 30 mins - 1 hour, then we'll have plenty of time to get the wickets required even with rain, and we can set attacking fields as runs will be pretty much irrelevant
All over, Yorkshire winning by 305 runs. Last 4 wickets fell in 3.5 overs for 16 runs, and all of those came in one over.
despite the horrible weather which threatened only a draw against Notts, this is a massive win for us and we're right back in the title race with Midds again. by the way, are Midds the only team to have beat us in the last 3 seasons now (including this one) ?
