I used to love visiting New Road for Sunday League fixtures when I was a Gloucester resident. They had great players like Graeme Hick smashing the ball around and Neil Radford, an effective bowler at county level. There always seemed to be Yorkshire links down there as well. It’s a lovely ground, when not under water, but it’s a sorry place for Yorkshire today who look like getting zero points from the first two games.
I think expecting to beat Northants is one thing - they reached the quarter finals last year, but Worcester really should be beatable, I mean we actually finished above them in the northern table last year!
https://archive.is/6kEH3 7/12 wins is the target, YJB will be back, but still not playing George Hill who they keep resting.
I agree. I can see why they took him from the Lions squad because he's played a lot of four day games this season and another wasn't necessary and a rest was a good idea. But he's had two weeks or so rest now, the team really needs him and the shortest format isn't going to tire him much.
He picked up a strain in Notts game so wasn't considered for first Lions match. He's back in squad for Friday's game, Tongue and Woakes will definitely play in preparation for first Test but be surprised if Hill is not selected unless they want to look at a few spin options.
Bairstow and Thompson both out injured. Sutherland missing from the squad, but no mention as to why in the match preview. Mcgrath might struggle with his 7 wins from 12 he's after.
Malan carrying the team in the absence for different reasons of Bean, Rashid, Root, Brook, Sutherland, Hill, Bairstow and Thompson.
