    Well, as seems likely now, a defeat puts the final nail in this season’s coffin of under achievement then we can only say they are getting their just desserts. Losing players to England doesn’t help but we’ve been lacking in all departments throughout.

    Now, if only we had a good solid professional that could bowl, bat and was a brilliant slip fielder. Someone like this young lad Tim Bresnan. If only he played for Yorkshire…..

    Bresnan isn't the answer. He's nearly 37 and his recent figures aren't great.....

    They could question why Woakes was allowed to play against us but Root and Bairstow wasn't allowed to play for us when all three are in the same situation of being part of the Old Trafford squad that got called off. Bairstow pulled out of the IPL so it's poor if he was rested when if he hadn't been he would have been travelling to play in the UAE. Gale is getting a lot of stick on social media but I am not sure what more he could do. We've gone pretty deep in every format this season when we've had players missing because of England duty, Hundred, rested, injuries and covid.

    I was using a touch of irony regarding TB but he really has had a stormer this match. Six catches was only one short of a first class record. I think he should have been retained - he was let go far too early. Age doesn’t seem to be doing Darren Stevens any harm at Kent does it?

    Ah well, still a chance of finishing second, but only a slim one.

    max pts we can get is 65.5
    would assume if all games not too badly affected by weather we need somerset to win at warks & lancs to pummel hants or vice versa
    oh, and us pick up some batting points along with a win,
