You mean their success to date? I haven’t tried to ‘make out’ anything, apart from express my opinion, which is ‘I don’t like it’ and think that some clubs are lucky not to have gone out of business in return for a short period of success.

If the football league has the guardrails in place for clubs to chase something that’s alien to them, and not suffer later down the line, then let them crack on. Just don’t expect everyone to think it’s a good thing and pat them on the back.

 

*bought success is the term you’re looking for, and the only thing relevant to the whole subject.

You champion and normalise these clubs all you like mate, we’re not going to have to respectfully disagree.

 

So let me just get this right a minute for context so Wrexham have made a total loss of £7m in the last 3 seasons and achieved 3 promotions landing them in championship Vs Barnsley who've spent 3 seasons in L1 losing 9.6m, 4m and 6.8m over 20m and are reliant on owner funding to keep us open, but you don't like what they are doing? in turn growing the clubs profile around the globe selling more shirts in the U.S than Arsenal

 

They're annoying but at least they're not human rights disgraces like the Man City/Newcastle owners.

 

Name the last club that didn't buy success ? That's the way the game is now otherwise transfer spending wouldn't keep increasing year on year with clubs trying to chase

 

Again. I accept owners are having to underpin losses, gamble on success etc, and that’s the way the games gone. It’s not how normal business works, but there’s no hiding from it.

It’s not just the ‘buying success’ in isolation that I don’t like. There are also loads of clubs paying more in wages than they turnover, with no success - none of it’s good.

 

It maybe naive, but I can certainly say I'm proud of how we won promotion to the Prem.
With some genuinely good players, playing some great football, under a really good manager.
And there you see, its not rocket science is it lol.
And best of all, we didn't 'buy' our way to it, in the way that every single club does now.

 

For me, there's no difference between Wrexham and Mancity, Chelsea, Newcastle, Wigan, Portsmouth etc etc or the Red Bull teams. The source of money is different, the morality sure. But in actual footballing terms, it's the same. Buying players who would be playing in league 1 into none league, is a big privilege.

I'm happy enough for majority of their real fans. I wish we had their money. I'm sick to the back teeth of seeing them everywhere and people pretending they haven't bought their way up though, and im certainly bored of the new fans who have jumped on the bandwagon giving it the big un...

 

Agree with most of this and I can't lie, I wish it was us some like that happened to as the whole club has been boosted immensely since they bought it.

The only thing I dislike about the way they approach things is the poor over spending and lack of young talents etc.

A lot of older players for big money etc. That offer little to no resale value. Fair enough if you have the money then go for it, but as they move further up, they will soon meet clubs with as much or more than them and those big player sales can help.

Chucking good young players to side like Okonkwo for the dreadful Danny Ward who'll be on big money doesn't sit right with me. 10 million for Broadhead who is a good player for sure, but he's 27/28 and has a year left on his deal, just chucking cash for the sake of it. Multi million fee for Kieffer Moore too, who's in his 30s and on big money. Just reckless spending at times.

But the majority of the stuff they've done since going in has been super impressive, especially when it comes to the community around Wrexham and the commerical stuff. Fair play to em.

Odd thread this. Some upset that ‘lil ol Wrexham’ are showing some ambition. Some upset that they have owners who are clearly bright, ambitious and willing to put their money into their own Club to see it prosper.

I’d have that type of owner in a shot. Here we are, a badly run, mismanaged Club languishing in Division 3 - if we’re lucky. And some choose to criticise those ‘little Clubs’ that are actually trying to improve.. Bonkers.

 

This 'ambition' word is bizarre to me. When you say ambition, do you mean spend millions of pounds clubs dont actually own? Try what Bolton, Wigan, Portsmouth etc all tried to do? Does ambition just mean spending loads of money now?

I'd suggest we had ambition when we kept Kane,Cole,Cadden & Williams with only 6 months on their contract in Jan, because they were all performing well at the time and we wanted promotion. I'd say turning down millions of pounds for Kitching was ambition. Not allowing Styles to leave for cheap, extending his contract to get what we thought he was worth.

I think there's no doubt we've been incompetent, especially last season. All throughout the club. But if we never show ambition why wouldn't we just sell DKD, Connell, Phillips and anyone else of worth straight away?

Bringing the ambition/incompetence point up to the present. I’d define it as; seeing a new Coach working his socks off with some new energetic young players providing a spark of hope to supporters, that has been missing for a long long time and yet still not sorting out a central defensive problem - and a lack of a striker (worthy of the name). Though to be fair to the Board/ Recruitment Team, they have not had a lot of time to sort the issue - barely 2 seasons.

 

So you don't think the board are showing any ambition this season with Conor, at all? I mean at this present day? I'd be shocked & elated if, when the window closes, all our main players were still here - I'd 100% class that as ambition.

 

I find it very hard to believe there was no interest in Devante given he was one of the top scorers in the league at the time.

Neeravs interview in March was clear proof of the amount of delusion at board level in January, when the fans had a very different opinion of what we needed.

The trust in Conor is appreciated by the fans but it’s more of a reflection to me at least, that our director football shouldn’t really have any input into our squad building, and should purely go off the manager or have a different DOF entirely.

Although giving Conor more responsibility with regards to signings is an improvement and gives us a higher chance of success, it’s a reflection that the structure above him are indeed incompetent and have probably accepted this.

It’s only because of the repeated failures whilst keeping our key players that has forced us going back to developing younger players as we simply can’t afford to not buy low and sell high at the cost of being narrowly focussed on promotion . Despite all this we’re still (apparently) refusing to sell DKD unless someone is offering 6 mil. If that’s not ambition I don’t know what is.

Conor also stated before the Plymouth match he was happy with the centre back situation. We still have almost 2 week to get another in to replace Roberts for the next couple of months. I can’t be sure of the striker situation as I’m not aware what Conor’s view of Cleary is with how he could perform in that role. If he does want one I believe we’ll try to push more once we sell one of our midfielders.
