Threads like this and mowatt show how much our post lockdown form owes to a toxic section of the fan base being unable to get on the players backs when things go wrong. We sit (as scores stand) 9th in the table in December and you get posts like the above.
Toxic? Cheers for that. I love Woodrow. Best striker we've had for a while, but that doesn't make him immune from fair criticism. His first touch has got worse, there's no disputing that, and when rumours are flying around about bigger money coming in for him, it's not unreasonable to wonder if his head's been turned a little. Not sure what your issue is.
Cauley's life seems a bit easier when big Victor comes on. His hard has nails, wrecking machine wing man.
I never understand why fans jump on here typing away , grumbling about this that & the other while the game is going on , why not wait until after the match , reflect on what has happened, then make constructive comment
Wasn’t great tonight Woodrow, but he’s like the team as a whole, dogged and keeps going when it’s not going his/our way. Nothing gets Woodrow down, he just keeps plugging away. Top player, but that’s just my opinion of course.
You've never been on a football forum before, then? Rest assured they're all exactly the same in that regard.
I love Woodrow, but he was off his game tonight. Quite a few unforced errors and poor first touches. I think that’s all @Micky Finn was trying to say, and it’s fair comment.
Well that system seems to be working too, provided we don't mess about after kick off. Get it sorted in the first few minutes, then watch the opposition relax
Some people expect him to score every game. If he scored every game then he wouldn’t be with us. Put in some real graft tonight and the goals came from elsewhere in the team.
Woodrow worked his nads off tonight, so can’t claim his head has been turned. He’s trying to play both the 9 and 10 role, and came up with the assist for the winner. Not sure how he’s getting criticism at the moment. As for the idea that we need a left wing back, we’ll do well to get one that is better than Styles. Not his best game today, but the game off will do him good. And while he might prefer to play in the middle, he gets more license to get forward from wing back in this system
Toxic?! I had a go at Mowatt, justifiably as his first half performance wasn’t good. He came out and scored a great goal. That doesn’t make his first half performance any good, and it hasn’t improved his striking with his right foot, which definitely still needs attention. I’m delighted he scored. Had I been at the match, I’d have said all of the above to the people i sit with. I wouldn’t have booed him or shouted at him. I’m as entitled to my half time opinion as anyone. My full time opinion is that Mowatt scored a fantastic goal but he needs to be much better and much more willing to use his right foot - and his lack of confidence on his right foot makes him so much easier to defend against.
