Didn't go, I managed to borrow one from my partner's brother who lives a couple of miles away.

Watched it couple of times, couldn’t hear properly what was being said, what did she say to provoke the reaction for the Policeman to go for her?

Lincolnshire Police haven’t issued a specific way of operating over this, what I would say is my daughters friend was going to have a party on her birthday. Someone reported her, she had a visit the day before to warn her against it and told her they would monitor the house. The day of the party, there was a Policeman sat at the back of her house all night in an unmarked van, watching the back gate.
I agree with them going before and warning etc and if the monitoring was to drive past regular too, but to waste a resource like that just seems odd.

So they have given a definition: You spend more time walking than driving. That actually does seem reasonable*. I reckon most people would consider a decent walk an hour or so and most people would be able to drive to an area away from the hustle and bustle of their town or city to get some peace and quiet within 20 minutes, so more walking than driving.

Now just need the police to read it.

*I say reasonable, but now I've written it down and read it, it sounds like the most unreasonable pile of **** I've ever heard. I can't believe I'm in a discussion about when, where and for how long you can go for a walk. It's dystopian madness.

So it's legal for b&q to sell kitchen paint but it's not legal to buy kitchen paint from b&q.

It's legal to take your dog for its haircut but not legal to go for a haircut.

It's legal to go and stay at your mates for a few days but not for 10 minutes.

It's legal to meet up with a friend in public and go for a walk together but it's not legal to meet up with a friend in public. Huh?

Basically a set of rules that are a crock of ****.

Also it is illegal to visit your mum's house even if you haven't seen her for months but it is perfectly legal to drive any distance to any prison in the country to visit a friend who's in prison. Ironically prisoners now have more freedom to interact with friends and family than law abiding citizens do.

Unless on compassionate grounds social prison visits are presently suspended in England and Wales.

But that's a seperate issue, the actual coronavirus laws allow them when they really really shouldn't.

And yet SAGE want even stricter lockdown measures....

Remember thats SAGE who still employ Shagger Ferguson as a consultant within its ranks.

Oh and thats the same SAGE who are suggesting that younger people should remain under restrictions until the Autumn and the full roll out of the vaccine.

Followed by locking us back down in Winter.

It is legal to buy kitchen paint, just not only kitchen paint. If you already had a reasonable excuse to go there then they're not going to stop you picking it up whilst there, you shouldn't be leaving your house solely to go there and buy paint though.

A haircut for your dog is not veterinary treatment (unless it's so knotted and pulling it can't eat for example and then that's fair enough as it clearly is needed and you'd be able to go to hospital for yours doing if it somehow had that same impact on you).

The reason they gave for staying with your mate is linked to possible domestic abuse. The comments seem to suggest it is more than that though so I don't really know how that one works.

It was nice to read a actual balanced article like that. I had read similar earlier but didn't post them as the sources they were on would have got shot down on here.

It won't stop a few on here deliberately attempting to invoke fear by spreading inaccurate information, the user to whom you replied being very much at the top of that tree.

If that's the case then should B&Q refuse to serve anyone who is only buying paint?
But then a tradesman could still buy paint?

That's specifically the reason after I saw the article I came back and found that post to reply to.
As you say the spreading of fear is awful and has been all the way since last March.
I said further up I think the campaign of fear as a primary weapon of choice, has led to people with serious conditions not getting medical help and has contributed massively to excess deaths and real harm.

The rule is really obvious though and people post different scenarios that they already know the answer to to be daft/awkward/whatever. You can't leave your house without a reasonable excuse, the possible reasonable excuses are included in that post. If it is for work it is reasonable. If you are already going there for something reasonable then it is fine to pick that up too. It is not fine to only go to buy paint if it's not linked to your job (which would be reasonable) or you are not already buying something else that qualifies as reasonable. You already knew that though as did Supertyke.

But in the hospitality industry the onus was on the pubs. They weren't allowed to sell people alcohol on its own and if they did without a substantial meal then they got fined. With the government sanctioned monopoly runners such as Tesco and b&q they can sell any none essential item alone with no other shopping to anyone and there is no comeback as it's legal from their side but illegal from the customers.
