Depending on the timing they could perhaps have this season completed and play a modified cup competition as well
My guess is that the football authorities are just going through the motions of making it look as though they tried everything to fulfil contractual obligations with the broadcasters and sponsors....either that or they've just got their heads in the sand.
I'm not really sure how it's any more head in the sand to say "we're 80% through a sporting competition. Our intention is to wait like the rest of the world and then complete this competition when it is safe to do so" than it is to say "we are going to start again when it is deemed to do so" Why do so many think one is acceptable and one isn't?
Most events that are being cancelled involve people travelling in from overseas. Plus all the infrastructure required, hiring of staff, etc. That’s why events like Wimbledon are being cancelled now and why the British GP is being looked at. As unlikely as it seems that we’ll see any football before June, the cancellation of Wimbledon isn’t an indicator. Our stadiums are in place, staff are technically in place, and all the participants are in the country. Behind closed doors is a possibility I think, but then so is announcing the season null and void and awarding the Championship title to each team currently top.
Without help probably so. If they can't physically play the games not much can be done. We are all in the dark on time frames I guess
If they furloughed their players like the rest of the country has done with employees then they would have millions saved.
A lot of players are now home in other countries wouldn’t they be flying in . I would say so and in bigger numbers tbh . I honestly can’t see any competitive sport as we know it starting this year . Obviously know one knows for sure but it doesn’t look likely at this stage imo.
I thought the odd player had been given permission to go back to their country of birth (like Willian) but didn't realise that was that widespread? Suppose it's easier to assume players are in isolation at 'home' rather than stranded abroad. Wonder if our Austrian contingent are in the UK or not? Agree it looks unlikely though.
I think most are in their own country especially the ones who’s family are not based here . It’s gonna be a massive headache and I think when lockdown is over there’ll be a lot of social distancing measures put in place . In present climate I can’t see leagues reforming this year . Obviously I don’t know this and it’s all speculation but anything that creates large crowds will be avoided imo .
But you can't even play behind closed doors without emergency staff in attendance. Where are they coming from? They're a bit busy just now and when the crisis passes they'll all be thoroughly knackered.
Was only saying it was a possibility. Not a distinct one but you know they're talking about it and will be considering everything you've just highlighted there. The reason boxing events have been cancelled until June is because the British Boxing Board of Control couldn't guarantee that a doctor and ambulance could be at each fight. Even if a card was in an empty hall and streamed.

Some clubs would. I.e the reckless and the blatant cheats. I would like to nominate myself as the overall judge as to who should get financial support and who shouldn’t. Seethi Wednesday, QPR, Derby, Leeds, Bolton and Birmingham, your share is being split with the bottom 2 divisions with Bolton going bust.
