Mowatt s fitness seems exceptionally good, he hardly misses any games ( hope this doesn't curse him) I really want to keep him as our captain and midfield maestro.
Me too Helen, he seems to have a new lease of life since Struber left. I really hope we can get him to sign a new contract, we should be striving to keep our best players.
Reminds me of Hourihane. He blew hot and cold through 14/15 and then second half of 15/16 developed his craft and exploded into life in the 16/17 season. I'd be disappointed to lose Mowatt at the peak of his powers. He's been decent but not at his peak up to now.
Like most have been saying on here for ages, play Mowatt in the right system with the right players, he will deliver the goods. Despite what some people have been saying (including you I believe), this is the best system so far which gives the greatest benefit to Mowatt.
Didn't LJ struggle to get Hourihane into his midfield for about half a season, until he realised he was undroppable
He COULD play in a two. But the thing with some 'experts', they convince themselves they know more about football than they actually do.
I think if Lee Johnson had bit the bullet and admitted his 4-5-1 0r 4-6-0 didn't work sooner Hecky would have taken us up automatic that season.
But he knew that Sam Winnall could play right wing... When you look back it's amazing just how good that squad was for L1 and how badly LJ mismanaged them.
I know, but 3 months too late. Could (Should) have cost us promotion, we were very lucky to go on that run at the end of the season and get into the playoffs
I was excited when we signed Simeon Jackson and thought he'd play him and Winnall and 4-4-2 but he needlessly over complicated things. I don't think he had the man-management to drop Pearson or Scowen and he wanted to shoe horn in Cowley.
You've got me there lil, sounded all "Billy Big Bol.lox Wednesday" for a minute didn't I lol. I'll go and sit in the corner with my naughty boy hat on now
Thats not the full line Ben used - "with Doncaster Rovers" is missing. But they've no fecking chance so he may as well move.
It was an excellent second half to the season. However, I don't think it was a miracle. The players just started playing as they should do. We had the best squad in the division and beating Walsall away in the League then over two legs in the Play-Offs proved that.
