I think your first 3 points shed a bit of light on some points further down the list and go some way to offer potential answers to some of the questions other posters ask regarding the manager situation. Those first 3 points made me think, if true (and after the playing style/player value statement I’m sure they are ), If MS is being ordered to play in a style that he knows is not going to be successful and so can’t stamp his own style on the team, there’s no wonder he looks deflated and disinterested. There’s no wonder he’s playing players out of position, because he’s clutching at straws in the hope that something clicks. There’s no wonder he’s hanging in there for a payout because he feels cheated, and more worryingly, how the hell do we get a replacement manager who will work under those conditions. All this is just speculation on my part which was stimulated by your post, so thanks for opening up a new perspective for me. Of course it could just be that MS is a poor manager!
What part of this mess is BMBCs fault. The lease for the ground is for a relatively small commercial rent for the size of the plot. The lease stipulated the leaseholders are responsible for maintainance and repairs. The council are prepared to sell their interest in Oakwell for I would imagine at least the cost of the purchase and any subsequent costs and as BMBC council tax payer I have no objection to them recouping their outlay in full. It's the 80% mob who haven't kept up with the ground maintainance and the 80% mob who have publically stated the have stopped negotiations for the purchase of Oakwell.
