A local McD’s employs more local staff and management than a local cafe does. It is highly likely to be also owned by a local or regional franchise company too. The standard of ingredients usually is also higher than a local cafe, and the support staff (gardeners, hygiene and repair folk tend to be regional too). So anyone saying support Sandra who works on her own and employs nobody and gets her cheap sausage and bacon from the cash and carry are talking daft. All folk need to do, is just continue to support the business they always have done. Doesn’t matter if McDs or Sandra’s cafe. Just stick with them and you’ve done your bit. People just forget how many jobs (especially for the young) that McDs create and support.
If someone fancies some chicken nuggets and a McFlurry then they’re not going to go buy a coffee and bagel are they? It’s completely different food. If there was an independent McDonald’s rip off then sure but if your kid wants a Happy Meal, you can’t take them a cappuccino and cream cheese bagel. It’s not like people think ‘I’ve got a tenner to spend where shall I spend it?’ They think ‘I want a Big Mac’.
You may be right but I just am not a fan of McDonalds food. I will eat it if's all that's available but never understood why some people view it as a treat. you are right though support those you usually do if you are able. There are far worse companies around
True. In regards to the food - the standard, publicity and focus of the quality is far higher than your average cafe. Cash & carry food is far less regulated and publicised. So like-for-like, McDs is usually far higher quality than a cafe. Sad but true. Same applies for KFC - their chicken is better regulated than an average back street chicken shop. There was an interesting documentary on this years ago - the MD from Iceland was on it. He was appalled by the lack of regulation and quality in cheap food from Cash & Carry’s etc compared to what even Iceland had to do undertake and meet. Was a really good programme and made sense.
The quality of the ingredients used at many independents is better than the quality used at McDonald's especially chicken based products. Sandra also indirectly employs dozens of local people in the supply chain
