Another heart breaking post. I can only wish you all the best and for some deserved good fortune, old mate.
Sorry but I am confused by your two contributions above to the thread. DWLCs wife's situation is obviously of great concern and the wider implications for all those suffering from auto immune deficiencies or for whatever reason taking immune suppressant drugs for underlying medical conditions. However, both your contributions seem to be more about anti -vax and particularly the first one which implies the problem is caused by the vaccine itself. My understanding is that the Covid vaccine has not caused the immune deficiency but it was a pre-existing condition and negated the efficacy of the vaccine. No vaccines are 100% even those developed and tested over many years and unfortunately are not going to work for everyone. It is therefore important that further development and research is taking place (and I am sure that somewhere it is) to address the shortcomings of vaccines - not just for Covid- for many vulnerable people for whom current medical conditions render vaccines that work for the vast majority of people ineffective. If you expect vaccines to be tested until they are 100% effective for 100% of the population it will never happen. It is obvious from statistical evidence that the vaccine for Covid has prevented millions cases of serious illness, long term disabilities and deaths. Clearly there have been anomolies, each one a personal tragedy for those affected, and, in hindsight, strategic errors have been made along the way, but that is ne reason to attempt to derail what has been an overwhelmingly successful response by science, the medical profession and logistics to the challenges of the Pandemic Worldwide. Best wishes to DWLC and his wife and I hope that some solution is rapidly forthcoming.
Thanks. And just to confirm, it is the drug regime she is taking to treat her condition that is killing off any potential antibodies created from the vaccine. I did hear there is some small development in Nantes that is trying to create a vaccine that isn't geared around the spike protein. How much better that would be, how likely it is to be approved and how long it may take to get into production is anybodys guess. And the same issue could remain. There are plenty of studies and trials going on all over through various hospitals and universities. So hopefully there are continuing breakthroughs in due course.
My wife has just found out a girl she used to be close friends with at school and who lived opposite her parents was the person killed by a bus at Victoria Station the other day. She's really not having a good week or so, bless her.
She was only 32, lived with her Mum who had lost her husband not long before. So the Mum is now on her own in the house where just a few months ago she had her husband and daughter living with her. Tragic.
