I've recently had very drinkable pints of Titanic Plum Porter and Marston's Old Empire IPA in York Wetherspoons for £1.99 a pint.

Can anyone recommend anywhere to grab some food and possibly a pint near the ground?

I love Titanic Plum Porter. Nicholson’s pubs used to have it on draught most autumn/winters but not sure if they still do. That and Thornbridges wild holly were my tipple of choice when it was chilly. Youngs winter warmer used to be quite nice too.

The Mill is a nice pub next to the river. Also The Greem Man in Grantchester.
