We are smaller mate, they got far bigger catchment area than us, they get bigger crowds even allowing for fact theyve priced their season tickets very low for a long time now. Good luck to them, pity we never never did the same and made season tickets as cheap as chips so to speak.
As it stands I think we’ll finish the season below Bradford. I’m still undecided as to whether we’ll end up finishing the lowest of the South Yorkshire teams, but it’s starting to feel like a real possibility.
It's a bit ridiculous to worry we'll be the lowest of the South Yorkshire teams when it's still June, the season doesn't start for 6 weeks and one of the teams in question is newly promoted and the other had a worse season than us last season..
I would like Humphreys to stay but as a free agent he can go where he wants. If we made him an offer its up to him whether to sign or not.He might want 3 years we might have offered him 2.Theres loads of different variations out there but the player is always in charge.
Obviously there’s a caveat to the statement that clearly stated ‘as it stands’. That opinion would massively change if some decent business occurs during the transfer window.
I'd like Humph to stay for a few reasons, the biggest of which is that CH seems to want him too. And that should count. I can't get my head around the contract bit. There was a year in the clubs favour. But instead of invoking it, we ripped it up (rendering him a free agent) and offered him different terms that he doesn't fancy? Have I got that right?
I think taking up the extension would mean he'd be on the same salary and I assume he was offered a deal on less brass but probably for longer than the one season which makes sense if we're cost cutting.
On the same salary is the whole point of 'in the clubs favour'. Now we have to trust this buffoon to replace his quality. For peanuts. It's gonna be a long dark ride.
From today's Chronicle... "The option in Humphrys’ contract was originally reported as a club option – so the Reds could choose whether to add another year – but it is understood it was dependent on various conditions being met throughout the season which were not, so the two parties went into a negotiation over a new deal." link
Just the nine players we need to remove from this page when they report back for pre season on Monday https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/teams
