Some serious clutching at straws going on here.. in both directions. My question is, why is anyone surprised? When was the last time the Club acted in any way proactively in the transfer market? They say over and over again, season after season that they're wanting to do early business, get the squad assembled prior to, or during pre season to give the HC the best possible chance. It never happens. 1. Say you want to do business early. 2. Radio silence. 3. Interview the HC who says its a difficult window but we're working hard/ irons in the fire. 4. Radio silence. 5. HC says things are going on in the background. 6. Radio silence. 7. Club ramps up it's advertisment of energy drinks on X to the annoyance of fans expecting announcements of player signings. 8. Transfer deadline day arrives and we loan two unknown names from who knows where. 9. DoF finally appears from hiding to gaslight fans as to the quality of the incoming players and blatantly lie about how long we've been after them. Rinse and repeat.
It would be good for the club to be honest and have a meeting with fans so that we can understand what is causing all the losses. They predict 10 million loss for the next accounts. We have had a massive squad for years, probably paying wages of players we loan out. We have just let 15 go. Hopefully, neither the first team or U21 squad will be as large from now on. The "gamble" signings on 3 year contracts need to stop. We really have no idea what is happening. The women's team has gone, if the academy is bleeding the club finances let us know. I'm sure we could run a reserve side playing 20 localish league and non league teams to look at players and save a fortune, if allowed? The U21s is a very poor league and lots of long expensive fixtures, Colchester, Ipswich etc... Just a few thoughts
And I know people hate this but we are a stepping stone club. We are and always will be until the sheikhs take over. I have been gutted seeing Geddis, Ward, Hignett, and who can forget Mick Butler, move on!! But it was good while they were here so we can benefit players even if the wages aren't the best and we don't sell out, plus, have a near empty stand every game. I would love to know what is happening at our club.
Some good quotes I found from last year: More value later in the window Got to wait for clubs further up to do their business Clubs dont want to let good players go Wonder what we will hear this season
I said months ago that ******** bingo will be off the scale with Conor and Mladen, but all we can do is give them time and hope that Conor can have the impact that we're lead to believe he will. I don't mind when we sign players as long as the meticulous planning means that we don't have to write the first month or so off.
Some are going on as though it's the last week of the transfer window. The window hasn't really opened yet. Pre-season hasn't started yet. The first friendly is weeks away. The fixtures haven't even been announced yet. When the club said they wanted to get business done early, did everyone think we'd have 10 players in and out before the middle of June. You'll always be disappointed if you set ridiculous goals. I'm going to have that put on my grave stone.
I thought he meant that the club will be disappointed for setting ridiculous goals of getting their business done early.
Someone on here said they weren't renewing their season ticket unless we'd signed 5 players by the window temporarily closing this week and 5 more by the start of the season. That's the sort of thing I was referring to.
I'd have expected at least one signing in that first little window. They've had months and months to plan for this coming season. Talks already held with agents and players and all that stuff. Key areas of much needed improvement have been clear for all to see and I'm shocked we haven't signed a single player yet. No, I never expected or wanted for that matter, is to have signed 10 players by now. That's mental. But for us to have not done anything, is really disappointing. And I'm sure CH is disappointed too, although he's not going to say it.
They usually aren't the ones mentioned on here because nobody on here knows owt abart the French 9th division
The Chronicle said last week the club were nearer to making there first signing. It is possible that deals have been agreed and its just about timing. When they sign I want them to have the shirt on which isn't possible if they're out of the country for example.
That's their choice mate but realistically we've just got to let it all unfold, I think we'll do a couple of early signings but then we'll have to be patient until we've moved players on which probably doesn't stack up with doing our business early. As long as we're not making excuses in September and we actually strengthen our team I don't mind when we do our business.
I've heard a rumour that Tw*tter is sh*t lol. But seriously though, it always has been, and it always will be. And yet some people are still obsessed with it, as though its the gospel.
