I never really had any idea what I wanted to be as a youth, till punk rock hit me in the face. I bought an electric guitar & played in bands from the mid 80's to mid 90's. Then went into music retail when I packed my job in & went back to Uni in '96. Did that for a decade & eventually that went tits up, so I set up my DJ agency. It's not been easy at times. Certainly I would have been better off doing other things, but after 13 years at Yorkshire Bank & suffering a bad head injury playing football at 29 I just decided to follow my dreams. Been some great times & a few very dark ones along the way.
Music as a dream but realistically I should have been a Project manager. got into it very late in my career through the job I had and found I loved it and it came naturally to me.
I considered being a journalist but glad I didn't go down that route after a couple of years at the Chron. Sociology was something else I contemplated but, all told, I'm quite content doing what I've done for the past 40 years which is in the building trade, concentrating mainly on masonry works. Just love being outdoors
