On the face of it I agree with you. However, consider this pandemic which just wasn't on peoples horizon at the last GE. It could easily have been (even be in) the tory manifesto to rule out taxpayer funding or subsidy of public transport. Things can change so fast as has been shown this year and 4-5 years is a very long time. I do however wish there was a way of ejecting a government for blatant lieing! Not of course that blatant liars would confess to that.
No it doesn’t !, not legally anyway . No one is saying our treatment of live stock was perfect nor should the campaign stop to improve it , But to say our standards are as low as USA or anywhere else for that matter is untrue . We have some if the best safeguards for transport and dispatch than almost every other country and if you think our legal standards are bad ,which I’m not arguing against by the way there’s always room for improvement and compassion , but to compare them with USA and most other countries for that matter is a million miles away . The treatment of poultry in USA is diabolical as is the pork farms over there and the cattle are injected with substances that are banned for humans in this country yet were expected to digest them for a trade deal . And on top of all this they said and promised. categorically that they wouldn’t t do it and they have blatantly **** on that promise and people still kiss their rses
Yes, my solution is probably too simplistic, understood that complications can arise, but yeah, we have to have some kind of system in place
The reasons it was rejected are set out here. I’ll now put my tin hat on for trying to answer your question. https://www.conservativehome.com/pl...astate-many-of-the-worlds-poorest-people.html
The thrust of that article being Is know we promised to uphold standards, but now we’ve considered the facts we realise it might be impossible’. so once more the issue seems to be; simple campaign slogan repeated parrot fashion is actually unrealistic. so now we’re in power we’re going to do whatever we like and won’t be held to scrutiny. We’re richer than you so that must mean we’re smart and you’re just gonna have to trust us to do the right thing. ok that seems reasonable
That whole article is a complete load of boll.ocks. The importing of bananas and tea had absolutely no impact on this decision whatsoever, it has everything to do with cosying up to the USA, and is yet another example of the shi.te they are prepared to peddle to justify their horrendous agenda.
Not shooting the messanger but thats just drivel but thanks for posting their considered view. So to paraphrase what that says We hadnt a clue what we were promising when we wrote our Manifesto or gave voter assurances ( generous view) or we were lying and knew we were promising something we had no intention of delivering - more realistic view
