It's indisputable that it's too much. I have an old matchday ticket from the old first division against Grimsby Town from 28th September 1996. The adult price is 9£.
The Bank of England inflation calculator shows that this is the equivalent of 16.60£ today. So we should be paying around 17£ to watch 2nd tier football but we are not.
We are often being asked to pay double that.

Do the same with transfer fees and players wages.

Well of course that is why it is hyper-inflated: tv rights and associated money.

I genuinely don't know at what point this out of control spiral will end. It has to. All things do. The fact none of the authorities (Treasury included who must be enjoying the massive tax take from salaries) are trying to soften the landing and are reluctant to bring some normality to spending and wages, suggests when the pop does come, it will hurt.

Even just a tightening of the credit markets and funding streams owners are using outside of typical banking arrangements could start a wobble.

and when you've got players like DeGea reportedly being offered nearly £20m a year BASIC.... its beyond the notion of being remotely sustainable.

    It's pretty grotesque really.
The German Bundesliga has a whopping 4.6€ billion domestic deal (premier league 5.7€) and this is up for renewal next season. Why do the majority of german bundesliga supporters watch their teams for the price of watching Fleetwood Town? Is it because we are suckers and they are not?
It's typical of us to whinge but historically we seldom do anything about it.
Them German's have consistantly fought price increases though.
