I disagree. If Val thinks they're not good enough then they wouldn't be anywhere near the squad. They've also got to pull their weight, otherwise they're packed off to the U23s
It is a crazy amount, and we can't keep them all and have to accept some will leave and do well elsewhere. By my reckoning, the ones we want to keep for the first team are Woodrow, Chaplin, Frieser and Adeboyejo. The ones we want to develop are Marsh, Bramall, Aitchison and this new forward that has signed for the U23s. Maybe those we're developing will have a mix of u23s and loan moves. That leaves Thomas, MIller, Schmidt and Simoes as players we need to be open to offers for, and Thomas is the only one likely to attract any interest. Not fussed if we recoup the fee we paid for him, as long as we get a sell on. When we go back to three subs, we'll probably need to get rid of a few more. Big question is, if we're bringing anybody in, will it be somebody likely to be any better than what we already have?
I think you are mixing me up with someone else , I havn"t mentioned or commented on Victor , my opinion of Thomas is based on the fact when I played I was a winger & the one thing I was taught was how to cross a ball , the basic requirement was to lift your head & look what was on & then try to deliver & that principle applies wherever you are on the field & I am afraid Thomas falls down on this as regular as clockwork. If you have read my critical posts of Thomas in the past I always say that I hope he improves & proves me wrong, but after over 50 appearances for the club I see little evidence to support that , however a move to division one or two might be the thing that triggers his development but from his time at Coventry & with us he appears to have stalled or even gone backwards , hope he proves me wrong & comes back a world beater .
I wasn't mixing you up with anyone mate. I just referenced 'people' in regards to Victor, not you personally.
They would all have to come back and play championship level players. They won’t all make it. Bar Halme I don’t think any of them will anyway.
I don’t buy this not been played in his correct position talk. The vast majority of clubs play with front 3’s or at least have for the past decade or so. There’s no way he’s not played that position regularly coming through at Derby in their U23’s or academy. Wide players should be able to alternate between a front 3 or a midfield 4. His decision making & end product has been poor throughout his time with us. A decision needs to be made on whether he’ll ever come good or at least will come good before his contract finishes & to be honest I wouldn’t be confident in making a prediction either way. I could easily see him been someone who it clicks for later in his career but how many years do we wait for that to happen?
If Thomas has to be sold to accommodate a new striker, I believe most of us would go for that. Only downside would be that we probably lose money on him, as you would doubt Sunderland would pay over a million for him. https://www.derbycounty.news/news/d...ivals-robert-lewandowski-in-golden-boot-race/
