Barnsley Worlds excellent service working perfectly to bring us a commentary free of any glitches (well apart from having to listen to Journo ff )
In no particular order... journeying up, seeing many a person I've not seen in a while, having a few beverages, the pre-match buzz, the walk up the steps of East Stand and seeing the pitch for the 1st time in 3 months... Things I'm NOT looking forward to: - the PA announcing the team...same old sh*te! - pre-season optimism lasting until 20 past 3 - FA atmosphere, unless you count random abuse of any of our homegrowns - sat there in the rain. On the opening day of season. - train breaking down on way back with no booze left - buying a Green Un and seeing how high we are after a one-all draw! "we're only 2 points off the lead!!!!!!!!"
RE: Getting pissed between 12.00 and 2.30 where ya suppin? Think were making the day sess from 1ish after full breakfast lunch.
RE: Getting pissed between 12.00 and 2.30 Good call. I'll second that. The banter about the new season, complaints about the standard of the new players/players we've let go/players we should have signed/teams we should fear/teams we should thrash, and all before a ball has been kicked in anger. And then it's all ruined by a crap crowd and a talentless bunch of idiots posing as footballers.
Last year (well, last 4 years) The decision to leave the boozer and trek to the ground has got more and more difficult. Hey ho, at least it'll be sunny.
Train Journey both ways is sadly the usual high spot! I remember the journey up much better that the journey back- mainly due to the reds performance driving me and certain others to hard liqour (Gin, Jamaican Rum, you name it).
