Well I’m prepared to write palmer and benson off . Utter waste of a shirt. Then we have the likes of Cole, iseka, Brittain and jasper moon who need to improve hugely next year.

I must be Coles only fan :D
I can see him scoring regular in L1 if given a run of games and think he could create space for Woodrow by playing on defenders shoulders and stretching teams.

I don't reckon Schmidt, Cole and Iseka up front is that bad.

Maybe, just maybe, but if Woodrow leaves to pay Obbi and Benson's wages then the player he is creating space for is...erm... Leya Iseka? Patrick Schmit?

As someone pointed out recently, the highest fee Oxford have paid for a player in their history is less than £500,000. I can't see them paying double their record fee for Herbie Kane, especially after a season where they have done okay but fallen short (in the previous two seasons, 19/20 and 20/21, they have reached the playoffs, so this season will have been deemed a failure, particularly when for a long spell it looked like they would finish in the top 6). They will likely be in for a striker instead.

I also can't see Conway taking pity on Kane (who would only choose Oxford over us if he wants to be closer to his hometown) and letting him leave for 50% off; after all, Conway doesn't seem to deal in arbitrary things like human emotions. Kane will be back at the Well in the heart of midfield because we desperately need some stability and he is our player. The only other scenario is someone pays over the odds, but it won't be Oxford.

Swap out Cole for Marsh/Aitchinson and that could be formidable. Schmidt could really come into his own in League 1, he is outstanding on Football Manager.

Virtually ever-present in a side that did better this season than I expect us to do in L1 next season.

Disagree, given two of them played in a team that's scored 32 goals this season, alongside two better quality players in Morris and Woodrow. Given we probably need to score 45 to stay in L1, 65-75 to have a shot athe play offs...

They all need to improve hugely next year. Morris is being hailed as our best outfield player for scoring 7 league goals. But doesn't mean they can't improve.

Personally, I'd like to see how Benson does after a proper pre-season, at a lower level, main issue with Palmer is the fact he cannot play 90 mins.

In a side that did worse than their previous two seasons. In 2020 they finished 4th, in 2021 they finished 6th, this year they won't finish higher than 8th.

I've no doubt that if we can get Kane off the wage bill and nab a few quid in the process, that's what we'll do. Even if it's a loss. We need operating funds, everyone will be for sale at a cut-price.

I can't imagine that Kane will want to come back here either, I know he's in contract but you should never underestimate the power of an unhappy player and their agent.

I think it’s a tad on the pessimistic side to think we’ll drop through the leagues , I think we’ll be top half in L1 at least . Cole scored quite a few in his last season in Scotland at a similar L1 level

Oxfords record transfer paid is £450 thousand , in this present financial climate & their poor support I do not see them coming in with a realistic bid, keep him & bring back Aitcheson & we have the foundations of a decent midfield at this level without having to fork out any fees.

Players that will leave on frees: Miller, Adeboyejo, Hondermarck and Palmer looking at the squad.
