It’s the saddest of things the way your dad was treated. It’s one of the few things that has ever really made me question my loyalty. I have a lot of respect for John Dennis but he should be ******* ashamed of himself. Your dad was instrumental in our success and I hope he is proud of that.

Maybe so but it feels more like a kick in the ******** with him going to Leeds . Any Barnsley 'fan' head coach or not would have said no "I cant do this to the fans" ,or, "I'll never live it down" The only excuse is that maybe he's lost his love as a 'fan' with being involved with all the recent **** he's had to put up with . It just helps to puts us back in our little 3rd division box where everyone thinks we belong . Just think if he'd have said a definite "No" to Leeds . What a positive statement that would have been .

I'd be surprised if PH was offered more than 300Kk pa/ 6k a week when we upped his deal. If the reports are true, Leeds have gone to 30k a week. So that would have been an expensive statement!

Yes and an honourable one . 350k a year at Barnsley, his home town club with new owners ,a bright future and a job for life against 20k a week for 4 months working for a despised club like Leeds . Good luck to him .

Even on your figures Plobby, that's 350k for the year v 1M. I don't know about you, but 650k over 12 months would stretch my 'honour'!

And as for the 'bright future', do you not think the jury is still a little bit out after the January window?

Another reason why I say Spackman is the worst manager we've ever had.

Like it or not, they are a sleeping giant & their potential is unlimited but as well as all that , logistics come into play , not moving house , kids staying at their respective schools etc , etc , there are a lot of things to consider when upping sticks , maybe they have influenced his thoughts

The jury is definitely out on the new owners at such an early stage but in my opinion we have strengthened the squad in January whch is a positive . With regards to Hecky moving for a quick buck , he can hardly be skint can he . Its like selling your soul to the devil .

If you think he had a job for life at Barnsley you are deluding yourself. He was as expendable as everyone else. He may have been gone before the end of the month if we lost the next 3 games.

David Hirst was another example of that. Remember him telling the story of his move to Wednesday. He came in for training as normal, Clarke called him into his office and said you need to get yourself over to Hillsborough. I've just sold you to Sheffield Wednesday.

Maybe he hated it though? Having to do the work of 3 people, having his players sold out from under him, being ignored when he requested certain types of players. Even if the money was the same he might have just wanted to leave us anyway and then it becomes a no brainer when he can get 650k a year more too. Your assumption is based on him enjoying his job here (hence talk of home town club etc.) but he could have started to hate coming into work with a passion, especially if it was making him start to like Barnsley FC as a fan less and less.

Yeah, the Championship (and half of league 1) clubs lay claim to being a 'sleeping giant'. There's a fuckton of sleeping giants in English football, most of whom happen to be perennially wnak.

If he started to hate it, then he shouldn't have said the exact opposite on the video on ifollow after he'd signed his very short lived contract. Some may consider saying something which is untrue a bare faced lie.

Just the other day he said how much he loved it and had to stop himself doing too much because of the work life balance so we can only take him on face value on that . Anyway what's' to hate? Its his chosen profession and he earns a damn good wage for it . A club of our size can't just request a certain type of player and expect them to pop up like Mr Benn . With regards to buying and flogging players, Hecky will take no part in that at Leeds so no special player requests there also . He's a lucky boy in a way because another 3/4 defeats with us and he could have been applying for the Southend job .
