That opening post Mark mi old **** bird was spot on... Nar get off thi ar5e and off here .....and tek your old man down to the club his experience is now needed .big time ....
I’d disagree with this as well. I think we’ve been well organised & had plenty of passion. Rarely get a beating & aside from Moncur against Leeds I can’t remember seeing any lack of passion. For me the big issue has been creativity & goals & with the signings we’ve made I hope that’s been addressed. It’s been a killer that Isgrove’s barely played & Hedges is a great option off the bench that we’ve been without the last 2 months. Different strikers to Bradshaw & Thiam have been signed in Moore & McBurnie & I’m hoping Mahoney can give us some creativity.
9mm ..... .45, is the accepted way but could I suggest perhaps as a homage to British gangster films of the 1990's , sawn off 12 bores for a stylish statement.
What a cracking original post. Thought-provoking, and I think it sums up the internal conflict many of us are feeling about Hecky right now. His ability can't be doubted. He has gone the extra mile to not just get every coaching badge under the sun, but to go deeper and complete his BSc (at Leeds Beckett!) in order to gain even more insight and enhance his CV. But even a coach as talented and level as Hecky can only do the job with the right tools. And it's hard to escape the conclusion that overall, this squad just isn't good enough for this level. It may well progress with Knasmullner and perhaps a fit Izzy (if that can ever be achieved). But the return of Williams, McBurnie and Mahoney will leave new gaps to fill in the summer. And Mills is only to the end of the season. It strikes me that at this point we need a manager to the end of the season. I'd spend some big bucks to get a 'name' to get us out of the doo-doo for the remaining games. I think that's possible with the window signings, provided we can identify someone who can have an immediate impact - even at a price. We don't really want to have to waste a year trying to haul ourselves out of League One again. We could then go for a younger, forward-looking and ambitious (if untried) coach to initiate what would hopefully be the next stage of our progress. That we could still be 20th, not lower, is testament to what Hecky has been able to do with this group. We now need to start winning ugly - at least until the end of the season. If that begins on Saturday - so much the better. But considering your post carefully Terry, I feel I'm bound to agree. These have still been two tremendous years under Hecky, but his time was/is now gone. We need to move on.
Postscript: I see Garry Monk is favourite. He would fit the short term and the long term, but would the new crew be prepared to pay what he would demand?
I agree with a lot of this. And if he didn't know how to arrest the slide it's not a slight on him as a coach because I doubt many would know how to deal with a squad as uneven & lacking quality as ours this season. He's got a good reputation and if we are to be relegated or he gets sacked, that goes away. Being sacked by Leeds doesn't really matter on the CV, being sacked by us does. Also, he's been fed up since January when we took the piss out of him and asked him to do 2 jobs, probably more. He's been frustrated with our business and has probably been looking to get out. He's looked at it all and thought he needs to look after himself & these have come along to give him the chance to. Imagine the decision that's to be made knowing he's going to get pelters from them down the road because of his previous comments? Must have been hard. He'll remain one of if not my favourite manager for what he did in 2016 & I wish him personally all the very best.
I wish him all the best as a person and for his family, but I hope it goes 'tits up' at Leeds. I'll wish him luck in his career when he gets his next job after Leeds which should be before the start of next season.
Why Leeds though? He could have waited a little longer for the next opportunity because there's always one just round the corner. Its just rubbing our noses in it .
Because they will have offerred a lot of money. And its just his job. When people get their heads around that and stop thinking of him as a cheating lover they will be much happier. He's just an employee of the club.
Yeah I'm sick of seeing us lose , even though I call myself a fan I'm fed up with losing , therefore , I think I'm gonna support Wolves for the next 3 months .
It’s a free hit. If he gets sacked people will shrug and go it’s Leeds and he will get a big pay off without it affecting his stock. If he success where 2479 other managers have failed the world is his oyster.
Back in the day I was mates with a couple of players. One who played with us for years. Turned down more money elsewhere a couple of times. He was called into the office one day and told we have sold you to a club at the other side of the country . That’s the loyalty in football
My old man is a prime example of that. The year after we got promoted to the Prem and Danny left, he was approached by the Pigs to go there on a lot more money than he was on at Barnsley. He was set to go but BFC offered to up his wages and promised him a job for life. He stayed on and recovered from a quadruple heart bypass under Hendrie and Dave Bassett. Spackman came in and that job for life disappeared only a couple of years after it was offered. He then had to find work in St Kitts and Nevis and South Africa. Which on the face of it might sound lovely but being away from home and your family and missing your grandkids grow up on not great money is a pain in the arse. Loyalty doesn’t exist in football, apart from the paying customer.
