    I've known quite a few Muslim women over the years - some covered their hair, some didn't wear anything that would suggest their religion. Even one of the ones who covered her hair didn't do it all the time (when on holiday, or in the garden). So to some extent it is a choice. I guess it depends on the background of the individual, but it's always struck me as more flexible than, say, Sikh mens' beards.

    The centuries of conditioning thing is interesting too - isn't that the reason why we all wear what we do? A tie is a very odd thing to wear on smart occasions,if you think about it...

    I dont necessarily disagree but too wrongs don't make a right. Racial profiling is wrong. The oppression of women is wrong.
