Isn't that what this thread is about? Just how much of the "Brexit Bonus" has been spent in the Barnsley region?

Many a brexit voter cast their vote in a building paid for by the European Union, clearly marked on a plaque by the entrance.

Eh? We do know, because that's where we are now, and exactly what is happening

I've seen some great mental gymnastics regarding Brexit but treating facts as unknowable hypotheticals takes the biscuit.

Absolutely, I keep banging on about the lack of a meaningful local Remain campaign (let’s not forget this cuts across all Party’s) The coal fields regeneration, for one. Yet all we saw and heard about was the National lies on a bus campaign and the ‘immigration issue’ oh and horrible Farage’s mug shot all over the local rag.

You forgot the black passport (it’s not blue so just another failed promise)

But it's never ever going to work because the powers that be won't let it work.. Both sides were/are against it. It's just a fer'king charade..

Remember His Holiness Tony Blair's words.. a little hardship brings people back into line.
Well we stepped out of line and are and will pay the price.

You mean a bit like they tell you it’s ‘taxpayers money’ when they want to justify cuts, but ‘government money’ when it suits them? Those who stand to benefit from Brexit is definitely not people like you and me (unless you happen to have your money in an offshore tax haven).

Not as simple as that, but to take that on face value, it’s the only way this area would’ve got anything back, because clearly we are not getting , and never will get anything from A Tory controlled Central govt. Who also happens to list the Chancellors constituency of Richmond as a more deprived area than Barnsley and so get approx £40 million whilst we got zilch. Levelling up my arse

It doesn't work because it doesn't work. We were members of a highly advantageous trading community. Now we are not, and we are worse off as a country. We can't refuse to follow the rules and expect to still have the benefits. That much seems fairly straightforward to me.

From 1997 we had 15 years was it of Labour government. How many pits, steelworks and factorys reopened under Lord Blair.. ?
The very same Lord Blair that lied to everyone, ignoring a million people who marched through London against it.. and went to war anyway.
And then he was followed by another worthless c'unt who gave all our money..the peoples money to the banks when they f'erked up.
Never been a Tory but if you think Labour are for the working man then your deluded.. they're for the middle class Liberal elite, who actually dispise the working man..it's a case of, would you rather be shot or hung voting for any of these worthless c'unts.

Hmm, so you can't trust the Tories OR Labour to apportion money to the areas that need it. If only there were a body that had done just that. Maybe we could vote for them. Except there was and we could.

This thread, or my post is not a ‘defending Blair’ or Labour post, It’s about this and the previous Tory govt. No govt
,(And I include Thatchers) has lied and looked after their friends and family financially at the behest of much of the population more than this one. If you’re angry about previous Labour Govts, then your anger must be 1000 fold against these. You do sound like aTory though, but Labour

No way would we have got all that extra from the EU after the impact of Covid. Plus we would be paying in far more.

Like erm, Penistone and Stocksbridge - doesn't that extend almost as far east as the M1 and it still part of Barnsley?

As far as i can see, there`s only one winner here & that`s the NHS with their 350 million a week extra from the brexit deal.

It's still unfathomable to me that there are people living and breathing that try to defend Brexit. Its genuinely baffling.
