A lot of the online conversations I’ve seen are along the lines of...

“Overspending potentially gives an unfair advantage on the pitch. Use that unfair advantage to finish far enough away from the relegation places (so that a points deduction is immaterial), and you’ve got away with it.”

To be fair, if a team still finishes bottom of the league when another team had 12 points deducted they deserve to go down!
