This isn't strictly true. Conte just said he was a club signing but he's not opposed to signing him - just got twisted on social media like everything else. I do think this is a bit weird though given the position we're in, both physically & financially. Unless we're paying him literally 0 and aren't contractually forced to play him at times for City's benefit, and will be a very, very bit-part player. Perhaps as suggested before it's just the club trying to make relations better between us and City. Not match fit & injured are completely different things, so if he's just unfit and not injured, I think it's a very strange signing indeed, as it would seem a very good match to get him some fitness
