Surely people understand why Clarke and Collins didn't play a high defensive line. This set up if ******* suicidal with these clowns at the back. Josh Earl, my goodness. We've made Burton Albion look like Barcelona and they'll be bottom 6.

I reckon my narrowboat is quicker than every single one of our defenders and it only does around 6mph with the wind and current behind it.

This couldn't have gone any worse in terms of getting the Oakwell crowd behind them. The groans are so audible with each misplaced pass, poor control and stumble. So frustrating. But... 45 minutes to rectify that.

The new messiah of a manager has a few questions to answer here.

Firstly why, when he knows he has two centre backs with the turning circle of an oil tanker and the acceleration of one, are we playing such a high line?

Why, when DKD is three foot six, is David McGoldrick playing deep as a ten (which is clearly his best position to be fair), meaning we have nothing at all up front and nobody in the box if we find half a yard?

Why are we playing the tepid insipid sideways passing game we aren’t meant to?

Why can’t your apparently increasingly fit players ever get to a second ball before a Burton player?

I didn’t think we were great last week. Resilient, organised - but did nothing with the ball. Scored three goals that were all defensive mistakes and gifts.

Today we’ve been equally poor on the ball - more so. But why are we so disorganised, dishevelled, and look like we are half pissed?

We've had 65% possession, they've had 2 shots on target, stats eh.

The senior players are anonymous. Phillips, DKD, Connell, McGoldrick... Offered nothing. Vickers and Yoganathan have been the only positive, forward thinking players in red. The defence is appalling but the others have given nothing to detract from that. One shot on target in the first half is not good enough.

Absolutely piss poor performance. Worse than any home game performance last season.

Why dont the fuckwit owners and management know that our defence is non league standard. Shipped a ******* **** load of goals last season. Do they not know the gap between the fans and owners is the ******* widest its ever been.

We have lost about 30 to 40% of home fans since yr under Duff.

Not just the defence. The midfield only pass sideways and backwards and you’d be forgiven to think only 1 of the front 3 are on the pitch. Only reason you know McGoldrick is playing is because he keeps being penalised.

Play with some pace and purpose lads. If we lose having a go it’s fine. At the minute we’re losing with nothing more than a whimper.

Fair play to Burton, they’ve done their homework and are far the better side.

Suicidal as I said in my post above. You set up to suit the players at your disposal not make them fit into a system that doesn't suit them. Burton Albion won't get an easier half all season.

Possession means nothing, weve had 1 shot on target, they look alot more threatening then us. Barnsley rejects hammering us

At full back, apparently. We're playing a 2-5-3 with our worst two players as the back line and the full backs moving into the opposition half as soon as we gain possession. It has been shapeless and shambolic so far.

Would it make any difference with a no.9.

I mean, these wingers we wanted aren't exactly getting much in the box.

It's just a really poor display. And Burton are very much up for it and the better team. Deservedly in front

Imho....A very good time to play Barnsley and they have exposed everything that is wrong with us ie we have a shocking defence and the midfield are having to work twice as hard to compensate.
That said we look slow and too obvious in possession and a poor Burton side have had no problem picking us off.
Positives... Phillips passing and crossing and Vickers pace and close control have been very good.
Can't see us getting back into this one tbh and it shows how very weak we are at the back with no Roberts and Shepherd.....fair play to the brewers...I'm just glad we aren't playing say Huddersfield.
Hope I'm wrong but this could be a long 2nd half ....Connor has it all to do, not sure we have the personnel...Earl has been awful.

Well I decided not to bother today. Up to now it’s looking like a good choice. No amount of cheap admission and fan zones are going to sort out our home form.

DKDs well saved effort is the only bright spot from a woeful first half.
