Aye, but some of the fans valuations are a bit daft though. Hooky feller has used the example I usually would above. Some were quoting Woodrow and Styles for a combined £25m this time last year.
When Toney was with us he was far inferior to Woodrow when he started off with us. Others might have thought that he would turn out to be far superior to Woodrow. I'm not one of them. He certainly has so turned out. I reckon that with Harvey Barnes it was obvious he was going to be good. Couldn't see it with Trippier. There are no doubt other examples to discuss.
Toney was 19 when he joined us. Originally a 28 day youth loan deal. Woodrow was 23. When Toney was quoted at £10 million. (not a bench warmer.) I don't know what Brentford actually paid. as Peterborough always try it on but most clubs aren't that stupid . But some of our lot on here were saying Woodrow was worth as much at the time. As I say, deluded.
When he played with us Toney was not obviously going to develop into a Premier League player. Woodrow was a great acquisition for us. He was too good for us for a while. But for the last 18 months he hasn't been. We need a striker to excite us. Then we'll be OK. Like gold dust though.
I think Woodrow was always going to leave the club at the end of the season. His head wasn’t the same after his “argument” with some numpties in the Ponty. IMO. I can see others wanting out as well. However, Helik may get better press with less conceded in league one with us, than a bottom end championship side… but I’m guessing the agents will be in all if their ears.
