Wouldn't it just? David Currie would have to be an integral part. I'm not sure what I'd like to see more - his hair on Bruce Dyer's head, or his teeth and tache on Ashley Ward's handsome face.
My main gripe with Marquis is that he's been around a while now, even in the Championship and not had a prolific season until last year. Maybe he's found his level or his club. I'm just not sure he's the answer. Happy to be proved wrong mind. Sent from my WAS-LX1A using Tapatalk
Exactly. I'd like to think we were enquiring about him, but is he another Chris Wood whose been utterly ***** his whole career til Leeds found a formula that worked for him last season. Flash in the pan most probably.
If we want a big striker/target man, I would be looking to get Sam Gallagher from Southampton, or Cauley Woodrow from Fulham. Both would have to be loanees. Gallagher has just signed a new four-year contract with Saints, but I would wager that they would be looking to loan him out again this season, so we could be in there. Of the nippy type of striker, my best shots would be Dominic Samuel from Reading (we were after him last season, but he went to Ipswich on loan - might get a price for him); Harry Bunn from Huddersfield, who is still only 24, but has a lot of experience, or Ivan Toney from Newcastle. I would look seriously at buying Toney, who seemed to develop further last season with Scunny and is starting to look a specialist and technically good finisher. the main aspect of his game which is of concern is the number of cards he picks up - seems like almost every game. I still wonder if the McBurney rumour is related to Yiadom going the other way (is that why Fryers has been brought in?), but that would be a really poor deal to me. We ought to be able to buy McBurney and I wouldn't go much above £300k, given his lack of first team experience. Any others? I have not even looked at leagues one and two.
Ivan Toney. Big no no. Hardly did anything for us in league one. Nowhere near good enough for this level.
