How can a championship club make a loss of £88million in a year and expect no repercussions? I'm all for FFP but the punishments or lack of are clearly no deterrent to these clubs.
Because it ends up being a race to bankruptcy. If a team wants to compete with the crazies they have to keep upping the wages etc. whether they can afford it or not. A bit like the nuclear arms race. In the end everyone ends up paying more (even the likes of us).
If I were a multi-billionaire. I'd buy Barnsley F.C and bankroll them to the Premier League. I'd also buy Chelsea, strip all their assets, sell all their players and have them relegated season after season after season until they are playing in the Southern counties non-league Division 8. NB - The FA/EFL would need to change their rules on football club ownership, but hopefully I'd have enough money to bribe them into "forgetting" what their rules actually were
