Can see some names I'd rather keep having to be moved out to get game time. Either permanently or on loan.
Is £1.5m low risk? I'd say it's a sizeable chunk of our budget, especially if we manage to hold onto everyone like Dane has said we want to do.
I guess we'll find out in due course whether there's any truth in this and also others mentioned on other threads. I'm confident that we'll have a number of potential targets and will investigate numerous players on the list and so not getting one doesn't mean they weren't on the list. I suspect for example that it might be Gyokeres or Perica but maybe not both. And like others, I'm happy to trust the judgement of our recruitment team and VI. I also love that we seem to be making moves early. It indicates to me that we have a plan and that we're executing it. I suspect finances will dictate that other clubs won't be as active and that those who are may be more tactical. My confidence is growing that we'll compete in the top half of the table again next season.
1.5 million for a lad who's still to reach his potential but now entering his prime years is pretty good value. Especially when you look at the average price paid for Championship strikers / target men.
On my Footy Manager 21 save....... He’s banging them in for Blackpool in the championship in the 2024-25 season and worth a fortune so it’s a yes from me!!
Fair point. I think it just highlights the pond we're fishing in, and how small our budget is in comparison to even some of the smaller clubs in the division (Preston, Millwall, Coventry etc).
They also said that James Garner was useless and too lightweight last season. His loan with them got cancelled and he went off to forest and they loved him. Most Forest fans called him 'best cm in the league'
To be fair to Watford fans their results picked up somewhat when he left. If that’s a coincidence or not I don’t know.
It shows just how good our scouts have been in recent years. We've had a few misses and lads who've yet to show they're potential but like you say we fish in a small pond. If we were to sign this lad I'd say it's because he's uses to English football and has been exposed to the Championship level physicality. But finding a striker who can score goals, hold and link play up is a very tough job.
Was convinced that this thread was going to be some Covid Vaccine conspiracy and that "Stipe Virica" were a company that supplied dodgy test tubes or something.
think that was more down to the new manager coming in a using a system that suited the better players they had such as Sarr, Sema etc. rather than the fact that Garner and Stipe were 'crap' as their fans say
29 goals as a striker in 9 years according to Wikipedia. Not exactly the transfer record breaking type.
How many people looked at our signing of Morris and thought brilliant though? We'll have to try and trust the recruitment team I think.
