These posts about it being their first title ........... give your heads a wobble. A 'club' is the stadium, the fanbase, the history and so on. Rangers aren't the first UK club to change name in the background for financial reasons - and that is what it is - the back office - so if you want to think that Rangers have won their 'first title', then by the same token we are still waiting for our first FA Cup and Leeds are still waiting for their first top-flight title. And countless others clubs .......... It's 55.
Andy I’m not sure if Barnsley or Leeds were actually liquidated. Administration is as far as I know quite different. Liquidation to me means no more and start again. I rest my case. And it is fun having a laugh at them
Quite right Ian. In legal terms it's not even up for debate. Rangers (Sevco) are a new Club and this is their first title: which is a great feat in itself lets not forget However, I think 'image wise' they are clearly linked to what went before and it is only those with an axe to grind or who want to make a mockery of Gerard's 2nd title win, who bring up this point. So can I just say "Well done Sevco on your first title 'Up the Sevs'.
Gerrard is a overhyped manager he should have won rangers the title last season when they were top around Xmas time. This season in a 2 horse race when celtic have been ***** all season he wins it. If he hadn't won them the title this season he should have retired from management.
Wasn't the current SPL founded in 2013.? If that's the case and Celtic have dominated since its inception, is this not Rangers first title.? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scottish_Premiership
That doesn't add up. If celtic (sic) 'have been ***** all season' then surely he has achieved the goal of finishing above them? With 2 months to spare. By all means have a pop he he'd failed to finish above 'a ****** celtic side'
They have been poor all season in the league and Europe lennons selection and tactics were criticised all season and suprised he lasted so long before eventually quitting. It says it all rangers won the title because celtic failed to beat Dundee United. Bang average manager if he goes to Liverpool and replaces klopp he won't last 2 seasons. By the way liquidation is different to administration.
Thanks for the pat on the back regarding us drawing with Celtic but tbh their failure to not win the league was nothing to do with us but the fact is Rangers were the better team all season. Tbh no way did Celtic go into our game wanting a win. To do so would have meant in their next game Rangers could and probably would have won the league at Celtic Park. No way did they want that to happen.
Agree about liquidation, but a club is a club is a club. I'd be stating the same if it was the green half of Glasgow. No way is SG ready for Liverpool, I'll agree with you on that. Hw would sink quicker than Lampard. I'm not a massive fan of SG the footballer or SG the man, but I'd hardly judge him as overhyped after 2 seasons as gaffer.....
Just the way he is getting all the praise now asif he has masterminded some great miracle to win rangers the title. I said before the start of last season rangers looked to have a very strong side for the spl morelos, Kent, roofe, aribo etc they spent abit of money over the few seasons and I think Gerrard has already said he is expecting to lose a few in the summer so next season will be interesting.
I don,t really get what the big celebrations are for anyway, after winning what is essentially only a 2 horse race...
Gerrard has done a great job in my book. Rangers are my least favourite Scottish Club. (My favourites being Dundee Utd, East Fife & Stenhousemuir for various reasons). Celtic's meltdown does mirror his former club, Liverpool this season.
All opinions I think my 8 year old could have managed them to the title with the squad they have in comparison to the others. The real test for Gerrard is when he manages in a proper league instead of a 2 horse race.
If SG does think its time to move south after 2 seasons, I'd respect him more if he aligned himself to a Blunts / Palace / Southampton role rather than expecting an Elite role to land in his lap
I agree. I don't really care either way - I'd much rather see another team win the Scottish league - but for me this reincarnation of Glasgow Rangers is the same old club. Of course it is. It's the fans, the ground, the history (= the club) that really matters, not some legal papers.
