Perhaps Conor's comments merely indicate that the decision to keep him or not is not in his hands.Or there may possibly be negotiations over a longer contract.
You get more out of Humphrys in 6 games than you get out of Watters in 46. Humphrys is a goal threat. Watters is not. Humphrys should stay and Watters should go.
I’d personally keep Humphrys unless he’s one of our top earners. I like him, but I don’t think he’s good enough to justify being one of our top earners. If you could get two new wingers on typical league 1 wages for the same price as him for another season then he’ll probably be released.
Hes probably not going to turn up till about 10 games before the end of next season if we renew his deal. So won’t be shocked if we let him go. If we do decide to keep him looking forward to watching him proving me wrong hopefully but he’s been every thing Wigan fans said he would be when we signed him. Keeping him motivated is an issue.
From the Chronicle... Hourihane said: “Let’s see how it goes. There is obviously a contract decision. He’s done great. I wanted to play with wingers and he was at the forefront of my thoughts. He’s repaid me with good performances. I still think he needs to get fitter but he didn’t have a pre-season.” link
Didn't he also have an illness that held him back a little?.A fit healthy Humphreys would be a good addition for one of the winger spots next season.
