My thoughts exactly. Feel the same as I did back in 2000 with regards to Ipswich. Think they’d simply be too good for us with that squad. Hope they go on to pip Plymouth (without beating us though).
based on current and home form, on our day I'd fancy us against anyone tbh. over the last 10, only Wednesday have better form. we've already put derby to the sword and have won 9 out of our last 10 home games. we'll soon see how we fare against Ipswich, Plymouth and Wednesday. Wednesday are obviously flying and will definitely want revenge after Hillsborough.
I just finished watching the match from last night. I'll tell you what. We're looking a good team now. I've thought for quite a while we were good bets for the play offs but that we didn't have enough to win them. I've changed my mind. If we get in them we can win them.
That defeat was entirely a result of that burke with the whistle. Wednesday's good run has got to come to an end sometime.
https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/soccer-predictions/league-one/ I keep posting it but the stats predictor says we’ll finish 4th and I agree
Ive got us 4th as well. It's also worth comparing remaining fixtures. After our game, Plymouth have FGR, Accrington, Bolton, Morecambe, Lincoln, Exeter, Shrews, Cambridge, Bristol & Burton. I could see them winning 8 of them, but probably 6 wins and a couple of draws would get them over the line on 94 points. I think they afford to lose to both us and Bolton and still get the job done. Because of the remaining fixtures that Plymouth have, I make Saturday a must win for us.
Playoffs I reckon for me…. Automatic is just a step too far I think. We’re on a great run and are in a great run of form so who knows. Irrespective of where we eventually end up finishing, what MD and the rest of his staff achieved is nothing short of miraculous. The way he has galvanised everybody and moulded this squad of players is remarkable. Players who were written off by many, a la Kane, Thomas, Cole, Benson etc are now heaping praise. It must be a real pleasure to work with him. Long may it continue and really hope he stays beyond the season, regardless of where we finish.
