    They’re all of a similar age aren’t they too?

    I think they’ve all got their strong points. I really like Shep’s ability to head the ball back to the ‘keeper. It’s old skool, a dying art.

    This defence weakness isnt down to one player. But im sure everyone can pick one player to find fault with. We need something to change. I said in a post a few weeks ago that we need a Solbauer scenario. We need some solid experience to steady the ship, organise the defence etc. Then we need to decide who lines up with them. Having said all that, by defence im thinking more of the centre half positions. The problem is we have to score 2-3 goals to win games. If we lose McG we dont have a striker. We havent solved the first choice centre half positions. Hopefully Mladen will prove some of his fans right by making two great signings in this window.

    After seeing him in pre-season, me and a mate were raving about Pinnock, but then he just didn’t get a game for ages and it made us doubt ourselves. Maybe he wasn’t the calm and laid back, but commanding, centre back we thought we’d seen? Turns out he was, and he became one of my all-time favourites.
