We have paid for policing as a precept on the council tax for some years now. This charge has gone up by well above the rate of inflation for a number of years most recently to "fund" the 20,000 extra police that Bojo the Clown promised. we are paying for those extra police now.

Most of us now have a Police and Crime Commissioner (shades of Batman here) who is is charge of the Police and sets the priorities for policing.

If the justice system needs more funding we will all be paying even more. We get the justice system and the government and just about everything else that we are willing to pay for.

Just to round this bit of a ramble off, our taxation is now just about as high as it has ever been in peace time. Unless, you are called Amazon or Google or any number of other "Offshore" organisation. That is before the new Social Care Levy is introduced.

America call to defund the Police. Our gov has been doing this for years. We are feeling the impact but because its one household at a time the backlash isnt there. We pay more and more money in our council tax to SYP every year yet check the stats. Almost 50% of reported crime isn't followed up. We also have a commissioner we pay for that i would gladly swap for a few feet on the street.
