Yes, because they made a balls up when building the stands, the front row of the Ponty at the West Stand side is virtually underground as well
Wishful thinking but you would think those moving the boards back will sit in the front row to check that everyone in the stand can see the touchline unhindered corner flag to corner flag in both the Ponty and ESL.
Jesus Walk up to a wall that's the same height as you. Can you see anything beyond the wall? No, because the wall is blocking everything infront of you. Take some steps back. Can you now see things beyond the wall that are higher than the wall? Take more steps back and can you see more of those objects?
But it’s not the same height. It’s still lower. In your example you can’t see anything below the height of the wall, just things above. The only thing i’ve seen obstructed in peoples photos is the near touch line. If it was the same height the entire pitch would be obscured
I think the new boards are higher than the old ones on the perimeter wall. I imagine, though I'm no expert on this sort of thing, that bringing the new ones further back will only increase their apparent height thus making them more difficult to see over from the front rows. Those further back will see an improvement maybe to the detriment of those lower down. One would hope that the club will get someone to sit in various seats to ensure it gets done properly. I applaud the club for getting on to this so quickly but as so many others have said, why did it come to this in the first place. Just make the new boards smaller, fit them up to the wall and bobs a gud'un.
but the fans eye line even on the front row is higher than the top of the boards… Surely the fact that the pitch is visible in the photo means that bringing the signs back means more of the pitch will be visible? Unless i’m missing something. I will say i don’t think it’ll make a huge difference and they’ll probably still not be able to see the touchline but i can’t see how it’ll make it worse. Maybe im wrong though
I think you're missing that people are different heights. That photograph is taken from the perspective of being just a little higher than the LED boards. The person taking it can see the far side of the pitch but not the near side. Someone just a fraction smaller will not see any of the pitch, and the closer the boards are brought to them, the less they will see of the players.
