Can’t disagree. Seems we won’t ever beat Wigan at home anyway. Problem is same applies to Reading at home lol…
Yeah its weird how teams in sport can go through good/bad years. And some of the local rivals can lord it a bit, and take the mick. I'll never forget or forgive some though, laughing at us Tykes when we were in admin. And almost going out of business, exactly 22 years ago!.
For me it’s not just about this game and the last in isolation it’s our poor form at home. We don’t seem to be able to put in a decent performance to win a game (yes I know we beat Rotherham but see they lost away at Crawley today) I don’t think I can really recall a period of time especially at this level during my lifetime if us being so poor under different head coaches/managers.
The big gate at the bottom of the Ponty car park was opened by fans again because stewards had it shut, expecting hundreds of fans to exit by the tiny single file gate.
Surely that might point to external factors then? I still think the toxicity at Oakwell over the past 18/24 months has had a huge impact on the players. Half of the time theyre scared to hold onto the ball, other times they rush it, they dont create space as much as they do away. I do think it's improved recently, especially in patches, but still needs a lot of work to do mate. I do honestly think players are abit nervous at home
They need to man up a bit then tbf. Professional football at any level comes with a bit of pressure, that’s what footballers have to deal with. Don’t think the crowd was overly critical today if I’m honest.
spot on- absolutely should start Nkwali on Tuesday-toss up between Russell and Connell to drop to bench
I don't disagree mate, said it for a while I think we have weak mentalities. I also agree the toxicity isn't anywhere near as bad as it was, but it is ridiculous sometimes how quickly fans start getting on at players. Like I said I think it's slowly changing, especially with the addition of Roberts & Humphrys who I think are strong leaders, Roberts is obvious but I think Humps too with his style in regards to not being scared to take risks etc. I do think it'll continue to improve but it does and has concerned me. Doesn't make sense how we can look a completely different side sometimes when home & away.
On the subject of fans leaving the car park. Did anyone see the guy in the black 4x4 run over the cone? He pulled out in front of a group of us & someone in front of us knocked on his window to warn him he was going over a cone but the driver ignored him & assumed he was just moaning about his driving so he proceeded to fully drive over the cone.
