Ahem.... I lived there about 15 years ago ;-) Rented in Cornish place for a while before there was any development at all, so yes... I fully concur how grim it was down that way. The missus was a student back then and doing part time work at the Bristol Hotel. Was so bad that even at 6am when she was on shift to do breakfasts I had to drive her there.
I’ve been in the leppings with more than 7k. In the prem season they even gave us the corner and you couldn’t see the other side of the ******* pitch. I know because I was sat in it.
I don't go to many away matches due to family and work but if my fading memory serves me correctly we took 7k+ to the crumbled heap around 9/10 years ago. it might have been the Davey era when the little fella got the winner in a 0-1 (can't even remember his name). Talking to Weds mate after who said we filled the away end .
For some daft reason I can’t remember why. 1979. ( was on crutches broke my leg weeks before) me and several other family members and friends sat in the south stand at leppings Lane end. Great day beat em 2-0.
We haven't now. 2,000 is only just over half of the upper tier. We've took 5,000+ plenty of times and sold out regularly in the 1980s and 1990s though.
Cornish Place was really nice. Apart from the fact it was absolutely freezing cold in those flats in the winter as the buildings were ancient! Some awesome Indian restaurants around the Wicker area as well. Haven't been for a while, but by all accounts they're still excellent.
Yeah, I was sat in it as well, when Di Canio scored against us. We’ve not had the corner stand since, as it has remained closed.
Was only there about 6-7 months then bought across the road in another old developed block before moving nearer swillsborough and having Adam proudlock and ndumbu nsungu and his entire family for neighbours!
