They're both rally young and need time. A league 1 loan for Simoes might help him out. As for Schmidt, I'm not worried about that 1 million fee. His super sub appearances at the end of last season have paid for him! He's obviously a finisher, but might be better off as a late sub than a starter
I respectfully disagree, I think we have enough quality. Imho it's a case of playing 6 games in 17 days together with the large injury list we've got that has caught up with us. We've got another game in 3 days as well, then we can rest, take stock and let VI get some decent training days in with the squad for 2 weeks
When you look at the players we have available to us and the system we play we can only successfully compete when every player is at the top of his game. Like the adage "a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link". If a couple of players are not 100% from the off the performance dips below acceptable. Last night Cardiff were all over us and scored after 3 minutes, though we briefly rallied mid first half and briefly in the second nobody with the exception of Walton was at the top of their game.
