If anyone thinks that is a penalty they should consider becoming a League One referee. They would fit in well. Thankfully yesterday's ref was having an off day and forgot to make it all about himself.
Me and @Merde Tete were convinced it was stonewall at the time but on second viewing looks a lot less clear
The only person who thinks this is a penalty is Darren Ferguson. He must have borrowed his dads eyes.
Never a penalty in a million years. By the way, I take back my comment the other day about there being no good refs at this level, Scott Jackson was decent.
Those of you who thought it was a penalty need to go and have a wrestle with the bald headed champ. Never a penalty in a million years.
Suggest a trip to spec savers if you think thats a penalty - I think you are in a very small minority of people who are ignoring the fact that barging over the player in front of you negates the fact you then fall over him. Didnt think it was a pen in real time, seeing the replay confirms it beyond any doubt
Never a penalty. He fouls Ogbeta first. I think I’m pretty fair as well. I thought Yoganathan deserved to be sent off & that the McGoldrick penalty decision was correct. I’m going to say something that’s perhaps a bit controversial but I actually think most of the referees are pretty decent & that people let bias influence their views.
I don't think so. I don't think it's a foul to us either. I think it's a fair shoulder charge but that knocks our player down. And then there's a tangle of legs that brings their player down. If the ref waved play on giving nothing to either side then I believe he got it right.
Well I’m very vocal on here about decisions against us, but I always acknowledge that honest mistakes can and often do happen. What I hate, and unfortunately is all too apparent, is the inconsistent treatment of ‘incidents’ by the ref’s. Some players and/or teams are shown more leniency than their opposition. How is that being impartial, it’s bordering on cheating. Look at our disciplinary record already this season, does anyone believe we are actually a’dirty’ side? We’re just guilty of not being more streetwise and often fall for the ‘’shithousery’ tactics that some teams employ. The standard of officiating is and has been generally poor for a good few seasons now. I did think think the ref had a decent game the other night but we still picked up a couple of bookings that were nothingness really
I thought Shepherds red was a bit ridiculous, but the red for Yoganathan and the penalty against McGoldrick were fair. Connell, Phillips, DeGevigney all fall over and play act. Cooper takes his time and like all keepers now, suddenly develops an injury so a team talk can be held. It's just endemic in the game now. It's rare I get to see a game 'live' and its always on TV for obvious reasons, so a lot of the emotion is taken out of it for me. Not ideal, but it tends to allow me a more objective view than what is often felt in the heat of the moment.
I agree and the ref thought so too, hence he gave us a free kick without booking their player (which would've been the case were it a dive) The vid in the OP confirms the ref was spot on
