I just think at some point we need to employ a manager experienced in English football who knows the leagues, the clubs, the coaches etc and is therefore better placed to set us up to beat them ( or not lose). Not only do we bring in inexperienced kids,,we bring them into the championship for a relegation scrap, we bring them into a new country, a new league and expect them to settle straight away and get us out of the mire. We bring in another European head coach from a smaller club with no experience of our leagues and no experience at this level, and when they fail we call for them to go which will mean they’re replaced with more of the same. Two choices; stick with what we have and back him or let him go and bring in another unknown with no experience of our leagues and repeat the process. Option 1 ain’t going to happen with this board.
My take on it whether it be Stendel, Struber or Donald Duck in charge is it's a results business and there's no room for sentiment if you want to watch a winning team.
I was all for keeping him until the last few matches. Fickle I know. However, I agree with your post 100 per cent. Last night was like watching us in the dark days under Spackman. All possession until the edge of the opposition box and not knowing what to do with the fe cking thing mate.
Personally I'm more in the give them time mode, less than a season doesn't seem enough time ,unless its clear they really aren't up to the job.
It isn't about striking lucky. It's about bringing a coach in even with our players who has a plan in place to get the best out of those players and play them in their suited formation and position etc. If you go down so be it. Don't re-invent the wheel though. Just give em' a crack doing the limited things they do best.
Who can we get? We ll be getting a reputation as a club that you have less than a season at, with Daniel Stendel being our longest serving manager. If the board had any sense they'd get him back like Luton did with Nathan Jones!
In all honesty I think every Manager does at some point, even some one like Ferguson has a rough patch.
Toby Sibbick in midfield when Dougall was fit and we had Styles not even making the bench summed it up for me. Also why did he change from the team that beat Fulham? With Sibbick at right back and Cavare at left back?
Goes for me, don't care how 'good' he has them playing, its a results game and facts are that we were bottom when he took over and we are still bottom now. Yes we play nice tippy tappy football but we failed to deliver enough wins. We have square pegs in round holes all over the place. How can we be having J.Williams in at left back when we have a proper left back on the bench? How can you have a 15 goal striker playing in Midfield when you have Brown up front who has dreadful finishing? Does a player like Woodrow miss that chance that Brown had last night vs Leeds? I think not. Yes we have gotten some great results and performances against teams that try and play like Fulham etc. but against the teams that we needed to beat we haven't done enough. Wigan, Luton and Stoke were the 3 games that could have saved us, we managed 1 point and 1 goal in those games against 3 of the teams near the bottom, its a joke. Yes its not all Strubers fault as he has inherited a squad that's not good enough, but he as the manager picks the team each week and each week I am baffled with at least 2 or 3 of the picks in the side. He doesn't have a settled side after 8 months in charge. That for me is a huge concern. Seems a nice bloke and has done well in his previous job but its a no for me.
I'm not sure Dougall was match fit at that point was he? SibbIck became a bit of a scapegoat but he's another one that I think with time and experience could be a good player.
I didn't say it was all the board fault, Nor did i say Struber wasnt blameless. I found it funny that we polarise to one person. I think Pep would have struggled with this squad. Collectively as a club we have failed to keep ourselves in the division. We can keep on changing one cog in the machine but what about the other cogs that have failed? To answer you, Yes, Partially, No, No, Yes, No. One question back, what is the tam you would choose and what tactics would you deploy?
If he just stuck Browny on the wing and Woodrow upfront, Oduour in at LB, be a lot easier to say yes keep him on. Results and performances have got better since he arrived. I'd give him to January transfer window at least.
I think that's the top & bottom of it. He's done a decent job with the defence. Next season will be a new chapter, with the loss of many of our better players. Time for some youngsters to step up, hopefully with an older head, assuming Solbauer leaves also.
