One of the Supporters Trust committee members asked some stewards to intervene suggesting that they did indeed relay this information to those queueing. Not my job was the reply. Mark, then suggested that they should get on the radio and speak to their superior to find someone who's job it was and was basically told where to go. He gave up at this point (having also tried to contact some club staff via mobile)
Yeah I know that, I've never really agreed with the policy and it being an outright ban though I can understand the reasoning behind it. I think at the time it was first announced I suggested that fans wishing to use the lift could go to oakwell in preseason, use the lift to get into the upper tier and then walk down the stairs to demonstrate that they are able to do so in a reasonable timeframe. They could then be issued with a pass allowing them to use the lift. They could even charge them a small amount like a tenner a season for the privilege to (more than) cover the clubs costs. Of course if the lift somehow doesn't get up there anymore it's a bit of a pointless suggestion
I would say I'm surprised but I'm really not. If the attitude of the stewards is owt like the attitudes of the ball boys I'm surprised that they consider it their job to get themselves dressed in a morning
Some new hand dryers in the East Upper would be nice. They're literally the worst ones I've ever used. Not too bad now but it's a pain in the winter
Just for the laugh, which of the issues raised in this thread do you predict will actually be solved in 6 months time? (When looking back for the car park answer I read down the feedback and it was all the same problems as we have now (car park, turnstyles etc.)) If you could only have 3 resolved, which ones would you choose? Here are the issues from this thread (there's a lot more than I thought there would be when I started listing them): a) flares/banning orders b) bigger scoreboard c) programme i) content ii) price iii) shiny covers d) merchandise stock levels - preorder option? e) TV content before match f) ball boys g) flexi ticket/admission prices h) concourses being spruced up i) car park i) exiting ii) lighting j) other clubs' fan's bad behaviour being unpunished k) Zebra finance l) disabled access i) box office ii) Legends Suite iii) Family Stand m) free wifi n) Patrick's facebook use o) bottle tops p) mystery smell in ESU q) turnstyle queues r) catering i) price ii) choice s) sound system t) half time draw - number of players u) minutes silence/applause - end of season, scoreboard/programme commemorative section? v) hand dryers in toilets
The cynic in me suspects the questions put forward might be filtered and the update will be in the style of justifying the Club's position, rather than clarifying what will change and when. Hope I'm wrong..
That does seem to be the usual way. It seems like a chance for the club to explain why there are shortcomings rather than collecting ideas in order to improve.
JD would you agree that all supporters should be able to have a good view of the match, should be able to sit with their families, should be able to be present at 'meeting the man of the match' have a pre-match meal if they wanted etc. Do you agree that all supporters should be able to access the Box Office and purchase a ticket? Or do you think that one section of the community should be denied these things?
'things can't reasonably be done' -- 'things can't happen safely' -- 'need to accept that's how it is' Think you've answered my question!
Tenner a ticket for the north stand when Huddersfield come to us I reckon we'd sell it out no problem, thus justify sticking them in the north side of the west stand. If we still couldn't sell them we could make money by being paid by companies to have their banner over the seats. Basically anything to do all the things they did to us so cut allocation, cheap tickets and that.
So you read my reply at least twice in which I said that there should be a pushpad on the door to make the box office accessible, a lowered counter would be a great step, the man of the match/meeting etc. is unfair and should be changed if unaccessible and the club could look at a family area for diasabled supporters and see if there is interest and then turned all that into me saying that I want a section of the community to be denied things. In case you didn't notice I'm on your side here but you are wanting to vent so badly you are taking it out on people who are offering suggestions to help. The one thing that I said needs to be accepted for now (and is where you got all your quotes from) is that the Family Stand is currently unable to be used by disabled supporters as it is not safe but I did say that if the East Stand was being remodelled then it should be looked into and offered suggestions to help in the meantime. Why you asked all the other questions which I had already answered and offered suggestions for above I have no idea.
Because he deliberately ignores what people say so that he can be offended on behalf of any group of people. So far I've seen him on here complaining about the treatment of gay people and referring to hypothetical situations and stating as a fact that Barnsley have gay players and pretending that they may be abused, he's complained about hypothetical discrimination against disabled people on behalf of them despite them not complaining themselves, he's complained about the treatment of women on their behalf, complained about the treatment of foreigners on their behalf, in fact on their behalf hes complained about every single minority group I can think of. The ironic thing is that he makes all these complaints and yet he holds the most bigoted views out of us all in lumping ALL people from Barnsley as one and saying how much he hates the people of Barnsley who are ALL horrible people. You couldn't make it up really. I really have no idea what his agenda is
Wow, bet you wish you'd never asked. (and apologies cos I haven't read thru every post) However, I'd like to know How come the situation with Millwall fans got swept under the carpet? Are we accepting that nothing is being done to reprimand Millwall as a club? Why didn't BFC kick up a fuss that our fans were really badly put at risk? Why didn't BFC object to fans being put in an area next to their fans, when other areas of the ground were available. Frankly, why didn't BFC look after its own fans?
SLO Meetings are designed to focus on the matchday experience of fans home and away. The fan engagement forum is there to talk about the club in general. Transfer, new contracts, etc. Agree though, not sure the difference is that significant and in depth answers to everything in this thread would cover most questions out there.
