So many missed putts, this could be over by tomorrow evening. Garcia, Rahm, Hovland, Fleetwood, Wiesberger, Lowry all need to play twice tomorrow. Westwood looked terrible so I'd bench him, Rory looked worse so same for him. Doesn't leave you with much. Can do without carrying Fitzpatrick hoping he finally gets a point as well.
That Hatton putt then summed the afternoon session up. For the US that’s dropping in the hole but we’ve not had the luck at the key times. I’d play Rory tomorrow. Would put him out first. He’ll be hurting after today and he’s one of those players that could turn it on and take it to the US. We don’t have many of those in this Ryder Cup. Rory/Hatton Rahm/Garcia Fleetwood/Hovland Wiesberger/Lowry
Long way back for Europe now I think. The Americans just look too strong. No where near enough of our players are on top of their games. If we don’t salvage something from the morning matches, we could be facing a heavy defeat.
Seen Foursomes pairings and best we can hope for is 3-1. Fleetwood wasn't great yesterday in tough conditions but he's certainly better than Westwood and didn't lose. Feels like Harrington is hoping for a drawn session and then putting all his eggs in the fourball basket to close the gap. Or he thinks Medina lightning will strike twice.
At this point I’m questioning the captaincy. Fleetwood hit some wild shots but also hit some great shots. And made some putts alongside his misses. Him and Hovland looked like a great pairing. You don’t win Ryder Cups swapping everyone around all the time. At least not when you’re behind as bad as we are.
In complete agreement, Harrington looks like a deer in the headlights. Many of vice captains were used in the past were used by extremely visible and enthusiastic captains. Its hard to watch folk like GMac and Donald walking round looking almost downtrodden. Harrington doesn't seem to give off any body language that says I'm in this fight with you. That then rubs off on the team, bit like Faldo if I'm honest. Monty was a winning captain, great Ryder Cup player but not the most energetic. However he had a reassuring presence and let his Co captains do the geeing up of the group.
Very strange decision, yes, Fleetwood hit one of the worse fairway shots I’ve seen from a pro on the 16th (I think it was that hole) Into the Lake but his admission from the opening games and then today’s opening 4 balls seems plain daft. Let’s not forget he won all 4 of his pairing games in 2018 and didn’t lose yesterday either- makes absolutely zero sense.
Can we sub in any of our co-captains or even our captain? Reckon they'd do better than most. This is embarrassing, could be all but done by midnight. 13-3 or 12-4 nailed on.
Casey's had a poor 2 days, I had him down as someone who would win points. His driving been awful and like most of the team the puttings been poor / unlucky depending on which way you see it.
A bridge too far now. 9-3 down at the start of the afternoon 4 balls. Could this end up one of the biggest defeats in the history of the Ryder Cup?? On another note though, I’ve enjoyed watching Hovland play. He’ll be stalwart for years to come. As I said earlier in the thread, it’s definitely apparent that there’s too many players off their games.
