You have to find a way of factoring in the teams they played in too though? Kone - top 2 team most of season, out and out striker DKD - team top 6 (ish) first half, bottom 6 form second half, not an out and out striker. Personally whilst different type of players I think when factored in stat wise it would balance out but DKD did better last season. But then perhaps Kone age tips it towards him.
They gambled on promotion by turning £7million down and back fired. Wouldn't surprise me if they had a agreement with him. He's had one good season in the EFL, DKD has scored at every level hes been put at for the past few year and set off again this year. Technically good too. Worth at least £4 million plus add ons
It's difficult to compare the two. I guess their true value is whatever clubs are willing to pay, and what us and Wycombe are willing to accept. DKD has an extra year on his deal, though is 5 and a half years older. Neither have played above the level they're at now, though theres more scope for Kone to improve more I guess. DKD is certainly in better form as Kone hasn't scored in the league since March and was heavily criticised at the end of the season for missing chances. Im surprised that Wycombe are accepting that bid now when they reportedly turned down a £6m bid for him in January, though we don't know the details of either deal. DKD has started the season in the same way he finished off the last one which is good for us, as it means he either continues to do the goods for us, or we get someone pay over the odds for him before the window ends or in January. It's interesting to watch Kone's rise through the levels considering where he came from.
Yeah all that's fair comment. Whilst there's always outliers in transfer fees, generally what has gone before is a good guide as to what can be expected for clubs to pay right now. I'd say anything over £3m basic is a good fee for DKD. If there's extras and sell on fees then all the better. One advantage DKD does have is that he can play in more than one position.
The £6m might have been split between upfront and add ons. In which case this deal might not be much different. A bit less maybe, but possibly more upfront? All speculation
I understand where you're coming from but midfield goalscorers are like gold,I don't think starting at 5 million is "ridiculous expectation" I think its more realism.
In your opinion, if he’s ‘priceless to us’ then the going rate for that particular player, or any other really, is what we value him at. Like I’ve already said the higher our valuation then the more we’ll get for him. That’s not ridiculous expectations at all.
