I understand Daniel was a striker perhaps he should register as a player and have ago up front. I'm sure he would manage a couple of games at 44

Your completly right! The bit I've put in bold is what worries me about the crop that have left this summer. They know that they could get more money as "proven" Championship players, but have decided to push for moves now. That tells me one of a few things; they are either very short sighted, were not confident of a good season to raise their own stock, were not confident that the club could provide them with a team to stay in the division(thus lowering their values), the money offerd was life changing and not worth the gamble of waiting it, out or all of the above...

Anyway, what ill be will be. I just hope the owners will eventually realise that having such strict criterawhen recruiting is very unlikely to work in this country and their (alleged) business plan of buy very cheap and hope some come good may turn them a small profit, but is more that likelly a case of false economy.

Considering where we are and the players who would have been their team mates, it's very difficult to argue they made the wrong choice.

If ignoring the human element means that I advocate sometimes playing hardball and prioritise the interests of the club above what the players wants then you are completely correct. Bosman has shifted the power to the player but whilst a long(er) contract does indeed enable us to get more money it also gives us the ability to say no. There are examples of clubs doing exactly that (Zaha, Coutinho (until it suited Liverpool), Hudson-Odoi, Arnautovic, McKenna (Aberdeen) and even Maddison at Peterborough). Regarding your point about word getting round, I think that'd be a good thing. I wonder if we've become a push-over and players know that whenever they want to leave they can, irrespective of whether the timing is good for us. Maybe a re-balancing is necessary, I know I'd rather have a player who is actually committed to us rather than someone who wants out at the first opportunity.

Someone I know who is a club sponsor mentioned at the Luton game that Butterfield wanted to come back.

The club said he was too old.

We were also offered Bree on loan.

The club said we aren't doing loans.

First of all we have a recruitment department. Start the process with identifying the way we want to play so worked with Daniel to do that. Daniel works with the recruitment team to come up with profiles for each position based on the way he wants us to play. Then we have James and some analysts who go through data and maybe identify 50 players for each position from all over Europe. Then we will filter that down to maybe 27 or 28. Then video scout maybe 20 and narrow down the list again ( 2 video scouts, 4 reports per scout). Then maybe we have between 5 and 10 and then GG looks at the situation financially and what is the situation for the player and if we can get them out. Is there something possible? Then we maybe we end up with 3. Do 15mn clips of good things and bad things and what the player needs to be improved to take player from a to b. Asses their potential. Then show Daniel and involve his staff and he ranks them in order of preference. GG goes to get them starting with the #1 option. if we can't get the favorite for maybe financial reasons we look at the second one.

I've posted it for you again, because I really don't think you're getting it. He gets a choice of three players. Three players he has had no involvement in identifying. His involvement starts with saying he wants a quick forward who sticks the ball in the net and then goes straight to ranking the 3 he's offered in order. His ranking may be Sh*t, Sh*tter and Sh*ttest and he still may end up with Sh*ttest.
