I find some of the comments on here a bit much to be honest. Just as 2 good performances don’t mean we are promotion certainties one bad one doesn’t mean we are as good as down already.
We don’t do well against big Physical sides and today was no exception. Unfortunately we conceded an early goal and always struggled after that. Helik had a poor game for once at fault for both the first 2 goals and we were never coming back from 2 down.
I think our manager made a mistake with the way he set the team up. He corrected it before half time and we looked much better but the second goal was the killer. We will have more games like this and more like the Watford one. Time will tell how the balance sits.
We have a decent defence and midfield but up front we are not good enough. With Woodrow out that’s obvious to anyone. It’s not easy to fix though.
And all those pointing to Moore as being the player we need. He should have had a hat trick and didn’t score 1.

Imho, our coach is still looking at his squad. He appears to favour this 3 4 3 and his style appears to be hitting the front men as early as possible down the channels. Unfortunately the front guys (maybe chaplin is better with better players around him) are just mot good enough and those tactics just didnt work last night.
If we continue this style, there is no place for shmidt or simoes.

I thought Walton was too slow off his line for the first goal.

At least tonight VI will reassess his tactics for some away games. Helik was at fault for the first and second goals. As soon as we went behind in this match I feared that a defeat was on the cards as our attack was feeble. Schidmt, Simoes,
and Freizer were totally ineffective individually or as a unit. Chaplin worked hard and was our best forward player I think. Victor or Miller are no better if not worse than Shmidt who only goal scoring contribution was a penalty appeal . So back to earth with a bang and on to Derby.

I'm just never a fan of threads where the opening line is some on here or usual suspects, always seems to me like there the ones over reacting and creating the headlines. It's different opinions that make talking about football interesting and this is the place to do it.
Our forms been good recently but a lack of quality/ options upfront does make life more difficult for us.

Sorry I dont understand ball was crossed - Helik missed it which is something Walton couldnt have planned for and then their guy controlled it with his hand and kicked it in - are you saying Walton should have rushed out to block the shot before Holilet had a chance to shoot?

No I meant the collision that led to the throw in. Apologies.

OK - I agree he hesitated but in the end got it right and did well to clear the ball out for a throw - if we are blaming Walton for us not defending a throw in I think thats a bit harsh

If he'd claimed the ball it wouldn't have gone out for a throw and put us under pressure.

I think last night was like the perfect storm! Defensively Helik and Anderson made individual errors which put us in a position which even teams at the top of their game would struggle to cope with.
Both players are, along with Solly, the best centre-backs we`ve got. Hopefully as a defender by trade VI can work with both to improve them although it`s difficult to legislate for all the mistakes to come in one half of football.
Last night`s game highlighted starkly how much VI`s system relies on the wing-backs to a critical extent. To have B Williams, J Williams and Brittain all unavailable at once should probably (with hindsight) have meant a change to the tactics from the off. Trying to use inappropriate stand-ins for the role proved spectacularly wrong from the kick-off. VI is unlucky that the players best suited to his system are unavailable but it`s now down to him to learn and adapt.

    Fair comment.
Summary for me from last night....tactics completely wrong. Schmidt and Victor not good enough for this division.
Get the injured back and we will be ok.

Only caveat I`d put on this is that VI must recognise that if there are injuries to key players he can`t simply put square pegs in round holes and expect the right result.

im not sure Helik alone was to blame. He had a very poor game and contributed to 2 goals against. But look at how Anderson lost the ball easy in our half, look at how wide open we were on the right for the pressure to come. We offered up pressure on us and then didn’t defend in the box. A poor show all around.

anyway I think we appeal and hopefully only lose 1.5 points.

The way our luck goes, we'd probably lose another 1.5 points
