I realise in isolation (and that this is satire) that this is a good season by anyones standards. But the amount of praise Liverpool get, often cited as the best team in world, especially from people at Sky, you have to say, it kinda is a poor season by their expectations. This should be Liverpool's era, best since their teams in the 80s. But when you actually see what they could have won in comparison to what they have, it doesn't look all that (especially needing penalties to win those competitions this season). This era of liverpool wont be remembered in 40/50 years by football fans like they are remembered from the 80s Not sure if I make sense or whatever, or if people just think i'm chatting bollozx or not, but atleast I know what I mean
I wonder what Hemsy is thinking right now listening to Gerrard and Owen speak of experience and know-how... Bet he's already puking bless him!
Yes I was just being silly there. Winning 2 trophies and coming 2nd in the other 2 is great going from any team. As for it being remembered many years from now, who knows. But 21/22 has to go down as a great achievement for that team.
It most certainly is - I think aesthetically Liverpool are certainly, in my opinion, the best team in the world to watch. And to have gone so far in all competitions should be applauded. Unfortunately for them, I just don't think they'll be remember how they should be in many years time. I think Salah, Mane & Firmino are all out of contract next year too, and if Bayern do go in for Mane it'll be interesting to see who comes in to replace him, unless they're relying on Elliott, Jones (although I'm not sure if theyll play him as freely as Mane) and that Carvalho theyve just got from Fulham. Imagine where Southampton could be if they managed to hold onto their players! Van Dijk, Mane, Shaw, Lallana, Bale, Hojbjerg...
Poor Liverpool players and fans, looks like a load of them got tear gassed when the final whistle was blown
Don’t know if you played fantasy football this season but Salah was the top points scorer so to say he has had a poor year is pushing it a bit. Didn’t do a lot wrong tonight but Cortois was in inspired form
He definitely hasn't had a poor year - he's joint top scorer in prem for one. But he has struggled for goals since the African cup of nations, think he only scored 2 in 18 or similar pre-chelsea cup match. Although alternatively, you could say how incredible he was in the first half of the season, not to have scored in so many yet finishing joint-top scorer. And the amount of assists he has too. Absolutely amazing player - quite astonishing Chelsea had him & De Bruyne & sold them both on the 'cheap'!
First half of the season he was excellent and second half poor. But I said year so in 2022 he's been really rubbish. He's only scored eight Premier League goals in 2022 and only scored in three of his last twenty two matches. Courtois played well last night MOTM for sure but Salah had half a dozen brilliant chances so should have been able to put at least one away.
He was on it last night. It genuinely would have taken something seriously special to beat him I think.
