I agree mate. Duff is certainly on the right path and I like what I see. He's got a big job Infront of him, which I think he can deliver. But like you say, if he is supported....
Btw did you all notice, Hasselbaink could be about to resign or get sacked at Burton. It just shows even more what a good choice we made eventually, in Duff and his assistant Paterson. It will go down as absolute criminal negligence if we don't get the best from Duff, simply because the owners refuse to help him manage financially.
I agree i think duff was/is a great appointment but the deck he is having to deal with and the backing he has had is painful to see. Having his better players sold replaced by free transfers, no money to spend, one of the worst forward lines ive ever seen in 30 years and rumour exepcting 3 more key players could leave before the window ends to be replaced with premier league loans.
You ask for a striker and get Tedic too. It reminds me of the situation with Hecky and Gauthier. Gauthier signed players Hecky didn't want so Hecky just shrugged his shoulders and said sign who you want I'll not pick em'.
The fear is that he'll walk if he doesn't get the backing to do his job. Can't believe he'd have taken it on if he'd known how bad things were. Guess we'll have a better idea come September 1st but I'm not holding my breath....
Like everyone else I suspect Duff expected Styles and Helik to be sold. They were supposedly our biggest source of income which would've loosened the purse strings for squad strengthening. The fact they don't appear to be going anywhere has changed things a helluva lot.....
I hope they told him you will have basically zero budget and have to sell anyone we can get anything for as were skint.
